    Family Table Failure

Anyone who contibutes to this forum, and has this in his signature: "Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic." "Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan. is not worth listening to, and should crawl back to the pathetic UG...

    thermal analysis, 20C/hr heat rate

If you set up a transient thermal analysis, it is not possible to vary a a prescribed temperature, but you can vary heat load or convection condition against time, so it might be possible to do your analysis.

    drafting zone locations

You can do this - in the format create a location grid, then in the drawing refer to it % what's nice is it updates, i.e. if you move a view with a grid reference, the reference updates. See this Suggested Technique: http://www.ptc.com/cs/cs_24/howto/fom3447/fom3447.htm

    Automating Tasks

You could assign each of the six loads to individual load sets, then when you set up the analysis ensure that all six load sets are selected. In the results you can choose which load set you want to show, or combine loadsets. Or you can set up each of the six analysis jobs, then choose to send...

    Stupid question about license...

Does the old PC need to be on the network for Pro/E to work? If so, try running ptcsetup from the Pro/E install bin directory on the new PC and ensure that it refers to the same server as your old PC.

Interpreting results in Mechanica (plastic component)

This is probably not a Mechanica specific question and should be posted on the FEA forum: http://www.eng-tips.com/threadminder.cfm?pid=727 In my opinion, you should check Von Mises stress results against tensile yield values. If you are not satisfied with this, check Max and Min Principal stresses.

Interpreting results in Mechanica (plastic component)

I'm not sure that I fully understand your question, but Mechanica materials behave linearly, i.e. the stress/strain curve is linear and takes no account of yield. Large displacement analysis can be run if the displacement is larger than the thickness of the part.

    Truss Element in Mechanica

Truss elements are only available in FEM mode. In Mechanica you have to use stiff beams, rigid connections etc. What is it that you are trying to simulate which would require truss elements?

    Start Part & Assembly

Stuart, To answer your original question, you can set the following config.pro option: new_parameter_ui no This gives the old menu interface to create/modify parameters. If you don't want this setting to be permanent, then your mapkey could load a config with "new_parameter_ui no", modify the...

    Multi-plate deflection analysis??

Use Quarter Symmetry. Create the three plates with a small gap between them and use contact regions. The bolt can be simulated in many ways - beams, solid with contact regions, etc. Are you using Pro/E, or Mechanica Independant, and what version?

    hole on cylindrical surface

Are you sure that the pipe is solid - you can only do a solid cut to a solid part. If the original feature is a surface then change it to solid.
