    Stack up Tolerance Analysis.

We want to establish the proper approach for the repair (we still don't know if it's allowed). It's seems that the holes are shift unilaterally may be .0002" to .0003" on the x axis.

    Stack up Tolerance Analysis.

Believe me, makes perfect sense it is for a Navy program. More like a press fit, mounting holes.

    Stack up Tolerance Analysis.

Thanks for the reply. Drawoh, all the holes on the left side are off (10)plus one slot. Looks like the set up was move on the CNC operation.

    Stack up Tolerance Analysis.

What is the calculation needed to do a Stack up Tolerance Analysis.Never done it before. I have a part in a "U" shape with a hole pattern of 20 holes and a couple of slot on the sides. Tolerance is off by .001" in one side of the hole pateern and on one slot. Any ideas? Thank you.

    Systemic

In my organization there is a systemic problem that is hard to address. Senior Engineers can not make drawings to the industry Standards and top management don't seems to care or resolve the problem because they themselves can not read drawings properly. Is the next step the legal counsel of the...

    Holes Normal to Contour.

What they want to control is "both" contour and the holes. Contour have to be within the profile of the the mating part and holes need to be at MMC in order to fit. I never saw a call out like this one before. I think that true position will be the correct call to control the hole pattern to the...

    Holes Normal to Contour.

drawoh, I'm sorry I did not make myself clear in my post. But,think of a windshield frame in a "U" shape 3".00 wide with a hole pattern of 65 holes all around ( sorry can not provide a dwg),the inspection will be on a inspection check fixture.

    Holes Normal to Contour.

I came across a drawing that specifies in one of their notes as follows,- all holes normal to contour within 0 degree 30'-. Is this legal per ASME Y14.5 M-94? Is not profile of surface the right call out?

    GD&T Corrective Action.

Well said powerhunt,I've been in that situation before with the difference that purchasing blame the machine shop & quality and bypassing engineering, the best tool & die maker almost get fired because of that.I told upper management that there all nuts, we be better off in firing the designers...

    GD&T Corrective Action.

Thank you all for your reply. The key issue here is management support.Do we have any ? So,how you will start with the RCA itself ? Drafter not paying attention on Y14.5 Std's,or ?
