I hope this is the correct forum for this question.
I have a client who is getting some resistance from their local building official regarding the use of Durisol's ICF blocks for a below grade foundation. The primary difference with this system is that their 'blocks' are made from rock wool &...

I am evaluating an existing 3-story hotel for structural modifications. The existing floors consist of a 3.5-4.0" slab on corrugated decking (5/8") supported by what appear to be steels joists. The joists are very similar to metal studs with oval openings in the webs. The profile is a "C"...
@cranky108:
Heath-Zenith is still marketed under that name BUT they are made in China. Not impressed with the quality - too many plastic components that won't survive very well when exposed to UV light.
I've given up on the DualBright technology - nice concept I suppose, but not compatible...
@3DDave:
Yeah, I get that. After switching to an incandescent bulb tonight, I've concluded that the fixture itself is messed up. When set in the Test mode the motion sensor works (DualBright turned off). However, when leaving DualBright off and switching from Test mode to Timer (triggered on by...
Of course he/she would.
I would NEVER utilize wood as a major support of a concrete lintel in a concrete wall opening.
Rot happens - maintenance not so much.

@BrianPetersen
The LED bulb IS described as dimmable.
I could live with the motion sensor control only and turn off the dual brightness, however this is how I initially set it up. resulting in the issue as I described - turns on once because of motion, stays on the programmed time, shuts off...
IMHO, draw it as the framer will see it as it's built.
I would consider it as a horizontal section, looking down, cut just a fraction below the floor sheathing.

This may not be the correct forum but I had to start somewhere.
I have a Heath-Zenith motion sensor fixture M/N SL-5318-BZ-E (purchased in 2012). In addition to the motion sensor it also has a dual-brightness (DB) feature whereby the lights turn on at half-brightness at dusk. Using a 19.5W LED...
AP - Since it's not against soil and ground water, the best method will depend on the forming system used.
Residential form ties do not (generally) have adequate break-back to fend off the eventual rust & corrosion.
Ties for commercial systems (e.g. SteelPly or Moduforms) can be equipped with 1"...
Like any other design problem - You evaluate the loads, determine what, if any, capacity exists in the remaining core concrete, then devise the means by which loads can be temporarily transferred around the affected column. This is what engineers do.

From my perspective all I'm trying to establish is that the drawing, as submitted when it left my OutBox, was as I intended it.
Yes, someone can do amazing things with a snipping tool, PhotoShop, etc. to modify the content of the drawing once they have it, including lifting my seal for use...
You stated "mesh vinyl banner" - what is its porosity? Does it behave as a solid surface or does some wind go through the material? A 40' wide X 120' H banner, even when printed, would be expected to have porosity greater than expected. Even printing on a mesh with 1" square openings is going...
I submit PDF files - LOCKED.
I've only had one entity complain. I took a firm stand - if you want it signed & sealed it'll be locked. If you want it unlocked, there will be no seal & signature. The issue died after that response.
