Format actually means to prepare a storage medium, usually a hard drive, for reading and writing. When you format hard drive, the operating system erases all bookkeeping information on the disk, tests the disk to make sure all sectors are reliable, marks bad sectors, and creates internal address...
It is possible to do Nurbs modeling in 3ds Max. Ask your customer if they are using Nurbs or Polygons. If Nurbs, IGES, is a way to export from 3ds and import into SW. If Polygons, rollupswx and Eltron are correct and you will exssentially have to do reverse engineering processes on this...
ewh,
Tom needed to create DWGs for his CAM / CNC machining operations, and ctophers answer saying you can't do much about conversion accuracy to DWG (or as you call it, a neutral format) and the best thing to do is not to mix CAD in the company does not really get Tom anywhere and it is also...
Tom, are you using the DWG Export Options?
You can select -> Export all splines as polylines
You can also select -> Enable End Point Merging
You can specify the tolerance within which gaps between line endpoints are eliminated. Select High Quality as well.
The DWG version is also important...
First post in some time.
First, you need to be on 2011, not 2010, to have the pads .asc export, PowerPCB 2007
You need to name the sketch of your board Board_Outline, and all the other names right and it should work like this.
In SolidWorks in the CircuitWorks Tab Select:
Export to...
you are working way to hard.
I used to run a 5-axis CNC machine and cut 3d elevation models and globes.
Solidworks was only used in my creation of these models to lay out the stock to a graphics stl and do prints of the stock. It is a NURBS modeler. Elevation data is in polygons, and these...
2007 is my favorite of all SolidWorks in some respects. It is definitely more than enough tool for this. Double check on CBL's point so you can legally make the pics for these legal documents.
First post in a while.
SolidWorks Imports Parametric 3d cad data just fine Kirby.
SolidWorks is not really a reverse engineering solution to import point cloud or polygon data. SolidWorks did create the Scanto3d module to work with point and polygon data. You need Premium to enable this add...
I hate the DimXpert. I'm on 09 SP4 with XP64 and can make it crash my system. Even if it did work, it can hang very hard. I've never bothered to report it. As for advice, I'm in your boat, and find it annoying that i have to make sure ref dim is selected and not dimXpert.
Things I can also do...
you could simulate it for free on a piece of notebook paper, but your going to need a heat transfer book, understanding of the equation Q=hA(deltaT), a Reynolds number, and a Prandlt number.
Do you have dissection enabled (what a dumb tool). This can turn on and create problems, and I'm thinking could be going out to files on the network, causing a lockup when the crash occurs. This can turn on and could be a culprit, so kill it.
Also, do you notice Draw Compare running?

ArtemTat,
Thanks for this. I gave you the other star. I have some tooling files that were created collaboratively with a Chineese vendor on a design I created. I made a copy of one part with Chinese, checked this macro out, and for the most part wiped out the Chinese on the features they...
