Amount of heat required to produce 50 psig in pipe with water in it

Using simple partial pressure rules, one can calculate the vapor pressure of water vapor to be added to the initial air(and a small water pressure). I got 137.7 Deg C as the temperature to which water has to be heated to produce the 50psig total pressure. By calculating the number of moles of...

Cooling capacity of chiller and heat load calculation

Dear JP, The title of book is right. If the cooling medium is water -glycol mixture, then it is constant inlet temperature to your vessel and a variable outlet temperature case. Get the formuls from Kern and use it. You will also need the overall heat transfer coefft, area of the coil, specific...

Cooling capacity of chiller and heat load calculation

Dear Jigneshpadia, Your problem is under" Batch Heat Transfer", handled using Kern's famous Heat transfer book with the same chapter title. You have not specified whether your chiller is constsnt boiling refrigerant ( at -20Deg C OR at 0 Deg C) OR a chilled water system with constant inlet...

Aspect ratio range for storage tank

Dear megeng, As per my experience: 1. For small tanks start from 1:1 to 1:2 2. Larger field fabricated tanks of >5000 KL capacity, fix height based on a.soil bearing strength, b.seismic considerations. Normally limited to about 20 meters. Best wishes Reena

Bypass for big sized Control valves

Hi, Thanks for all your suggestions. We will not be able to control with a gate valve on bypass. We are now proceeding with two 50% CVs in parallel which will open progressively (one after the other) and also a gate valve bypass for 50% flow(normally closed when both CVs are available and open...

Bypass for big sized Control valves

It is the Rich Amine Flash drum LCV feeding to the Amine regenerator at/very near the regenerator feed nozzle with about 10% flashing occuring d/s of control valve. A tough corrosive erosive service with two phase flow. Thanks to all who responded.

Bypass for big sized Control valves

Dear itdepends, This is a bypass required for maintenance. Further, do we add one more bypass valve (small size) for opearting the hand wheeled CV or the big bypass valve, especially "when the valve(both CV and bypass) is closed and we want to open it"

Bypass for big sized Control valves

Hi,We are designing one of the biggest units which has control valves of size 20inches and above. The in-house standards do not allow globe valves on the bypass as they are very big but only allow gate valves which will not help in throtlling the flow. One solution suggested is to go for two 50%...

MDEA Amine regenerator unit filters-propritary vs conventional

Dear ivegotgas, Your replies were really good and to the point. May I repeat my request for some carbon filtration data such as how much carbon for how much MDEA flow rate? Effect of temperature say 65 to 45 deg C? Thanks in advance Reena

MDEA Amine regenerator unit filters-propritary vs conventional

Dear Sino, There is a mechanical filter in front but it is followed by carbon filter to remove the entrained hydrocarbons. Any idea on how much carbon is required and the optimum temperature of adsorption? Thanks in advance

    Confused about liquid seal pressure

This appears to be Gap type split range type of control- Nitrogen make-up if pressure is less than 0.5psi. AND vent through the seal if pressure is more than 1psi. No ation between 0.5 psi to 1.0 psi. If the vapor pressure is pressure is less than 0.5psi , you will see no swing as Nitrogen...

    Need your help

Dear Koshyeng, For Gas blow by to occur, Pressure not be too high but say the pressure differential between two tanks is sufficient to overcome the static head. Sometimes a vertical "S" Liquid loop is provided between such tranferring vessels/tanks as a Liquid Seal so that even at the highest...

    Need your help

You have to check the points raised by 25362. The safety aspect of the other tank should not be compromised in case liquid seal breaks and gas blowby occurs. Other than that the Nitrogen regulator sizing has to be checked for the new pr drop condition. Best wishes Reena
