Thanks for the feedback. We are on at least M210 of WF5. However with Windchill 10.2, we are still on M010 CPS03. Working with IT to get a test instance of SQL / Windchill setup so we can start testing/implementing windchill patches. Hopefully some of this is solved with more recent builds...
I'm just starting to hunt down solutions to these two issues, and I figured I would post here to see if anyone has had similar issues. I am also looking at PTC community and the PTC.com site.
We are on Pro/E WF5/Creo Elements with Windchill 10.2 (M010 build of WC), Windows 7, SQL
Issue 1 - I...
Finally found a setting under the Workgroup Manager Client -> Update Overwrite Local Content. I think this is what I was after. Having this set to yes seems to cause a File->Update in Pro/E to update the workspace AND the proe session with any changes made in the main vault.

On Windchill 10.2 promotion step 2 page, there is a radio selection of where to place the promotion request. I believe the first option is to automatically place it and the second option allows you to select. Anyone know how to get the first option selected by default. I haven't found a...
I forget the actual syntax, but we include an if statement to check if asm.mbr.name (or something along those lines) equals "xxxpart.prt" then do the nested if statement of changing qty.

The desire is to keep the steps the same. We have some users on the manufacturing side who interact with Pro/E in a very minimal way. Open Pro, file open part, export as step, get out. We have taught them that the File-Update will guarantee that they have the latest and greatest version...
We are getting ready to go live with Windchill 10.2 and Pro/E Wildfire 5.0.
We are currently using Windchill 9.1.
In 9.1, when I open a part in Pro/E (not checked out, just open), the state of the part is shown in the title bar. If I go to the server (vault), change the state of the part, and...

Thanks for the response. The answer is that the top bar is made per it's own print which has been reved. The assembly print only controls how the individual parts are assembled.
Where I work, we have a standing rule that every job packet (both internal machine shop or external machine...
Ben's response above got me wondering and I did a similar little test. Two bars (bar1 and bar2) put into an assy (barassy). All new parts, checked in and happy.
Erase all from workspace and memory. Check out only bar1 and add a cut to it. (bar1 now at iteration 2) Check it back in. Erase all...
one way of looking at it says the same part numbers are ordered to make the frame, no new parts were added to the assembly, no parts were removed from the assembly. True, one of the parts in the assembly was modified.
I just can't get my head around the idea that every part revision requires...
I have a frame (assume a door frame) assembly with some uprights, cross bar, header, ect. All checked into PDM and released. (read only).
User mofifies the header bar by adding 4 holes. (moved part to revision state, checked out, made changes, checked in, etc...)
Now when you open the...

That is close to the situation. The item is a felt like rope used for gasketing. We get it as a box of 50ft. We issue it to different assembly jobs in units of inches. We don't want to create part numbers for each different length because then our ERP system sees it as value added...
A user is trying to get the quantity displayed in the drawing table to include the " (to indicate inches). He has the repeat region relations working fine to modify the value. However, it throws an error when he tries to include the double quote. Any ideas (other than using two single...
Thanks for the feedback. This is what I kind of expected to hear.
The background of the family table is this. About 15 years ago, we used family tables for a lot of our common parts like timing sprockets. We modeled one generic and build into it the features and intelligence to morph into...
