    can't find a job

By economic measures (think BLS) it's not a depression but by every other metric it is. Without all our safety nets and the BLS statistical adjustments to employment data we most certainly are in a depression. And it's worldwide. Even China is slowing down. Despite all that I'm bucking even an...

    can't find a job

Thanks for the input. Perception is perception and is often incorrect. Speaks to the shallow society we current exist in. I'm not a quitter and will persist until I succeed. It's just a bit more difficult this time around.

    can't find a job

Thanks guys. IRstuff, I did state my salary expectations as part of the application. They had that and it was low. I just want to get started. I'll solder wires if that's what it takes to get started but I can't even get that. Geez. jmcoope3, 5000+resumes? Are you serious? For one engineering...

    can't find a job

IRstuff, I've applied for well over 100 positions. Average a dozen or two a week! It's tedious but I won't give up just because it's difficult. Had about 27 phone interviews and maybe 12 in person. Still no job though. The last one told me I was over qualified? What a load of crap! What the heck...

    can't find a job

Easier said than done Mike. It will end up being his word against mine. But, he did say right to my face "I was hoping for someone younger that would grow with the company". What a dolt! That was November 9th 2011. The time limit to file a complaint may have elapsed.

    can't find a job

Thanks for all the "candid" responses. Okay I was asked about my background BS & MS mathematics with emphasis in dynamics systems (differential eq) and Probability and Statistics. Nearly completed a PhD in Operations Research but could not stand school any longer. I have over 300 credits and am...

    airframe wear concern

That's what we think rb1957. Looks like it came from the factory like this. We will never know the truth but by looking at the geometry there's just no explanation for how this wear mark could have been made. There's nothing there to interfere...not on this helicopter. I think this frame may...

    airframe wear concern

dye pen revealed NO cracks, pits or edges. nice and clean. Can't get the manufactures specs jetmaker. Did all the steps b109g suggested in an earlier post. The manufacture is not forthcoming with data. Not much more I can do short of replacement. I have to add that if I do that it's likely to...

    airframe wear concern

Thanks guys. This is very helpful. I computed the angle to be 178.645... which corresponds to a stress concentration factor of 1.05

Thank you all for the info!

    airframe wear concern

I filed and sanded the area nice and smooth. There's no evidence of a wear mark left. It was small and the area I smoothed blended very nicely. You can hardly tell it's there at all. The blending did not change the depth and there are no edges. Just a nice smooth blend. I don't think there's any...

    need a diy strain gage

Hi, Recently had an issue with a wear mark on the airframe on a helicopter. Thanks for all the help with that issue. It under control now. I'd like to put a strain gage on the airframe at the point of the wear mark just to make sure the applied forces are what I calculated them to be. I've done...

    airframe wear concern

Jetmaker, The depth:length ratio is 1:31.5 where would that put the stress concentration? Last night I went over it very carefully....it's does look like someone had been trying to blend the spot in. It's very shallow only about .006 or less. the spot is elliptical major axis about 3/16 of an...

    airframe wear concern

I'll dye pen see what the results are. With 75% of the material remaining I suspect it will be ok. After all it's been there at least 5 years....on the other hand that's 5 years of vibration?? thanks guys!
