Keep getting e-mail notifications despite disabling them all in preferences

Terrible format change. AWS did a similar change when the admins created a new forum for AWS "paid" members only. They lost valuable members worldwide that contributed exceptional knowledge. Luckily the old unfiltered AWS forum still actively exists. I regret that I will be leaving this...

How can steel manufacturer chemical composition differ from ASTM/ASME chem comp?

ASME Sec II Part A states that the chemical composition of SA/A516 Gr 60 for Mn is 0.79 - 1.30 but a steel manufacturer states their product meets ASME spec but is 0.79 - 1.50 Mn. Does ASME allow a tolerance for exceeding the Product Analysis?

Unclear on API 620 Table 5-2

The 70% JE with note: Radiography AS REQURIED is stated in the Design Date block. This is being applied to Quench Duct, Absorption Towers and Incinerator Hot Gas Ducting so I am unclear of the A/R (does it apply or not) when the 70% JE is stated?

Unclear on API 620 Table 5-2

I am getting differing opinions on several forums as to the extent of RT as it applies to 70% JE. After much feedback I'm leaning to the assumption that butt welds in the circ and longitudinal shell joints of a tank require Spot RT when 70% JE is called out in the Design Data block of the AFC...

API 620 RT requirement for 70% JE

I know ASME Sec VIII Div 1 per UW-12 does not require RT for 70% JE on double welded butt joints. Does API 620 per Table 5-2 require RT for 70% JE on double welded butt joints? Thanks in advance for your assistance. qcrobert

What welding position is called whe

ASME Sec IX PQR was qualified using a 6" pipe in 6 G position thus qualified for welding fillet welds in all positions. Generating additional WPS to provide direction to already qualified welders to weld the tube sheet style part. My question is In section QW-405 on the WPS should the...

What welding position is called whe

Actually the set up of the pipe is similar to what you would see as a tube sheet where the axis of the pipe is horizontal. The end of the pipe to be welded to a tube sheet with the pipe end recessed 1/8" from being flush to the cell plate surface. The travel progression on this corner joint...

Who is the EOR involving the drawings associated with API 620 tanks?

No it is not stamped by a PE and the Design Data drawing specification block states Specification "Stamping No". Thank you for the clarification about the EOR. As a subcontractor fabricator I was wondering if I need a variance on a requirement in API 620 should I go to the the draftsperson...

Who is the EOR involving the drawings associated with API 620 tanks?

In the title block of the tank drawing it states the engineer that: Drawn By: MG Checked By: LPJ Approved By: KPS Which of these persons is considered the EOR? Appreciate your comments, RobertP

Filler Metal to join 2205 to C276..?

The tip on small sample size will be used in the future when qualifying procedures. Re-reading my original post, I found an error and wish to correct it by striking "ERNiCrMo-10" and replacing with "ER2209". Fe% lift off test revealed no ferrite in the weld metal when 2205/C276 was joined with...
