Dear All,
I would agree that PDS & PDMS are good but they are overpriced. I would put the results from Plant 4D P&ID and PIPE up against them anytime. A fraction of the cost, more user friendly and easier to customise. Try all the options before you buy is the only sensible solution.

Dear Thijsie,
We looked at CADWORX and found it an ok package but only basic functionality with limited speed improvement. We also tried Plant4d and autoplant. The autoplant we will not touch again and they have are no longer on the autocad developer network so there future is in doubt. The...

Hi All,
Compressor selections
A colleague of mine in a distant land has need of a software programme for handling centrifugal compressor selections. Apparently the calcs for the gases are very time consuming and a decent software package could save many hours.
Not my field so I cannot give more...
Chiller,
I agree with Mandy that it is important to try all programmes before purchasing. We have PVElite and PVE5. We bought the PVElite for some ASME work and it is very good. However it does have gaps in the PD5500 and is not as good as the PVE5 for that code. Demo's are one thing but I...
dear IFrs,
our draffies had similar problems and after playing with autocad and various add-ons they settled on Navisworks 3. It gives us superb photo-realistic rendered output and near-real walkthroughs but it works with dxf, dgn, dwg, step and iges.
Call them on 0161 366 1188 and they will...
Hi Jkurji,
Have a look at plant 4d as this does that. You can reference in acad drawings and it will link them to any database ie oracle access sql etc. The explorer module will also solve the other problem you posted for viewing acad drawings in non windows formats.
The Autopipe was only ever popular with Autoplant users and then not very. Caesar II is very good and much more user friendly. Might also be worth looking at PSA5 and finding out which suits you best. E-mail alistair.richardson@cea-int.com and they will supply either programme for evaluation...

We looked at piping design software for our office. Rebis is becoming obsolete since they are no longer autodesk authorized. try Plant4D from CEA. A friend at BP recommended it. It links to Caesar and we found it to be more user friendly. Go to www.cea-int.com and ask for the info.
Good luck
I am looking for a good package for the above code and what to check all the options before we buy. Can anyone recommend a package and where I can get it?
Thanks in anticipation

Chiller,
Contact CEA Uk on 0161 366 1188. They supply software for all the codes and offer choices on most codes.I found them very helpful in sorting out my software. They develop their own software but also sell COADE, WHESSOE, FLITE and others. Ask for Alistair Richardson.
