Would anyone please shed some light on minimum design considerations required on vessel with seal welded trays?
Situation: One of the tower has four (4) wash trays (bubble cap, classified as critical service trays, ) at the top section. To meet the leakage test requirement of 1” of water in 5...
Hi all,
Has anybody designed a nozzle, located on transition and offset from vessel centerline, using Compress ? I could not see that option anywhere in Compress. Please advise. Thanks
Hi all
Does anybody know how to determine the upper limit of hydrotest pressure per 8.2.1.c which refers to another para. 4.1.6.2.a.2 in ASME DIV 2, 2007 A08 ? Is this mandatory to be shown on drawing or on nameplate ? Thanks
Dear all,
While designing the vessel (Div 2, 2007) with ASME 2:1 elliptical head, if the L/t ratio per 4.3.7.1 is lesser than 20, what kind of analysis is required to conform to part 5 ? I have a 36" OD vessel with 2" wall thickness and this ratio (L/t) comes out to be 19.16. Thanks for you...
Since the vessel is clad, corrosion allowance has been set to zero & operating liquid head @ bottom shell is 1.19 psi. MAWP (545.26 psi) & MAP (546.45 psi) is limited by bottom shell. So, the field hydrotest (UG-99b) will be 1.3 x MAWP = 708.84 psi whereas shop hydrotest(UG-99c) will be 1.3 X...
Hi All
For a clad vessel with low liquid head, MAP & MAWP difference is very small. This vessel is to be hydro tested per UG-99C (horizontal position) and shall meet future hydro test requirement (in vertical position) per UG-99b. Calculated shop test pressure per UG-99C came out to be less than...
Nozzle itself is 14" with blind at it;s top and a 4" nozzle on it's blind. I was wondering if this long nozzle would require supports against wind & piping loads.
I am curious to know why allowable stress for lifting lugs are matched with that of shell or head ? Aren't we required to use the allowable stress @ normal atmospheric temperature i.e 70F or MDMT as vessel rarely experiences design temperature while being lifted ? Thanks
Hi All
If I was to run the fatigue analysis for the the nozzles vessel that is designed with DIV I code and oscillates continually between two different pressure at certain time interval, how do we run fatigue analysis ? I have not seen anything like this before for a div 1. vessel. please...
Is is possible to design a nozzle on head offset by XXX" and 45 degrees to the vessel longitudinal axis ? This is
very common situation while designing a vertical reactor with dump or withdraw nozzles on the bottom head> Thanks in advance.
Hi all
Would anybody please give me the design basis on the skirt access/opening reinforcement on vertical vessel ? How the reinforcement is calculated ? Any good reference material or book related to this topic ???? Thanks in advance.
