I have a failure of insulation between busbars (415V 3 phase, 150mm separation) supported on edge of glass mat re-inforced polyester sheet insulation (20mm thick). Laminate should be dry but may have intermittent condensation and located at coast but inside cabinet, inside building. About 15...
I assume that each successive soak temperature is higher so if the bar does not expand thermally to fill the gap it can only be because it is "shrinking" either due to overall weight loss on ageing or due to stress relief of internal (moulding) stresses. You do not say temperature or duration...
I think Metalastik (with a 'K' at the end) is a registered tradename. Trelleborg supply Metalastik bearings, but I am not sure if they are the manufacturers. Try www.trelleborg.com for more info. You could email them.
We have a case of a thin rubber (HNBR ~ 1-2mm) diaphragm in a high pressure CO2 valve failing. It had cracked completely round the flange plus part thickness crack around central support plus a few smaller concentric cracks. It is not ozone cracking. We suspect valve may get cold under some...
"Qualified Life" is a term used in nuclear power industry for equipment used in Pressurised Water Reactors (mainly). Equipment, eg a valve actuator will be tested by ageing at some temperature higher than the expected service temp to simulate the required lifetime, it will be irradiated to a...
