Thank you all, this is not a flight component but a piece of ground handling equipment, that is why I chose to use a non MILHBK temper, obviously I made a mistake even though Matweb quotes it, many thanks
Our manufacturer has just had some .080 thick bent up channel sections heat treated to CH900 (239000 psi)
They all have a delamination crack all round half way through the thickness.
This temper is not shown in MILHBK but is shown as acceptable on Matweb.
Both material and heat treat have the...
Can anyone guide me to lug analysis curves with titanium data, this is for a certification project so the data must be public property or published to the public, many thanks
We are a young Canadian aerospace design/engineering company, just designated as a DAO by Transport Canada.
We want to develope our own design standards and part of this will be defining a limits and fits specification.
We are mainly ex pat Brits and other European nationalities used to the hole...
Hi,
we are already a DAO and have extensive knowledge of certification procedures. The change product rule is always a problem with these sorts of programs, but if you can prove that applying the latest regs will NOT improve safety on the aircraft you can usually get away with not applying the CPR.
Due to our geographical location (Western Canada)we are primarily involved in FAR23 type GA aircraft, Beavers/Otters/Caravans, mostly on floats.
We are beginning to get involved in leading edge STOL modifications for these aircraft.
I have read various basic design guidelines for these...
if the question is related to electo plating, not just cadmium, then in some circumstances fatigue life can be affected, eg. chromium plating. In this case the chrome is subject to fatigue cracking long before the parent material, but the crack in the plating can propogate into the parent across...
We are just about to get Transport Canada certification, and then FAA certification on an all composite ballistic cockpit installation.
We are not a manufacturer but used an AMO'd composites manufacturer. Because the composites we used were not covered by a standard off the shelf spec, ie...
