hi ... i supose you're simulating in a real enviorement... not in a pc ok ?
is so ... you may be using a thyristor with a very low Vrm and in that case when you conect it to the 230v mains it latches automaticaly without the need of firing inpulse aplied to the gate.
i recomend you get a part...
what kind of control are you trying to do ?
no problem in drive it directly from the mains... with a limiting resistor of course.
just see the triac specs and calculate the resistor power dissipation from the Gate current.
if you want the led to stop just put a switch in series with the capacitor ... i dont know if you like it to be automatic ... if not this is a simple solution for you ...
