My heat transfer is rusty at best. We are designing an oven that has 600 F internal cavity temperature. The oven door is constructed of stainless steel with 2 glass panes. The glass panes are seperated apart by 1/2" air gap. We want to solve for the surface temperature of the outer glass...
Good info. Some I've seen before, but don't really get down to the nitty gritty of actually designing one from start to finish. With 4 bars, there are certain graphical techniques that will determine where all the fixed and moving joints will be. Wasn't sure if there was a way to do 6 bars...
There are all kinds of graphical methods to construct 4 bar linkages. Is there a graphical means to construct a 6 bar linkage? Is it more or less trial and error / experience? How do you know where to place the joints to achieve the movement desired?
This one aways kills me. When you go to edit some features, why doesn't the same interface show up as when you first created the feature?
Also, some of the original options are greyed out when you edit! For example, when I edit a trimmed sheet, it won't allow me to change the original...
I am having trouble making a domed surface. The surface is supposed to look like an egg split in half lengthwise. I have curves defining the outside oval shape and curves defining the front and side profiles. What command do I use? In NX2, I would use 'thru curve mesh' to pick the outside...
Need help with converting units from metric to inches. I tried using the 'ug_convert_part' program from http://www.vickers.de/ugconv.htm. This works fine, but my sketch dimensions and other values stay in metric. I'd like all the values to be changed to inches. Is there another way to...
When I add an existing part to an assembly, all my layers and blanked objects show up. But when I display the part, only the solid geometry is visible. What am I doing wrong?
Also, how do I change the units in the part, I need to convert the part from mm to inches.
Copying and pasting was the only option that worked. This just seems very tedious, especially if there are many features to be arrayed.
Grouping the features and array the group still doesn't allow the group to follow along a specified path.
With Pro/E, I can constrain the feature(s) on a...
Here's another challange for the UG experts. I have an s-curve projected onto a compound surface. I'm trying to create a feature pattern (in this case, 5 dimpled cuts) that follow the s-curve. The instance command does not allow for such a function, does it? Or do I have to make them all...
Thanks PhilJenkins for the response. I guess I was constraining the conic to solid lines instead of construction lines. It makes no sense why UG can't differentiate the 2 line types, but it worked.
Okay, I found a way to do it. Sketch 2 unattached lines. Then use "bridge curve" to connect the 2 lines together. Then extrude the new curves.
That was easy...
