I had a go with the Tedds lite but it does not allow you to start with new calculations is this easy?
Most of the things we would be doing are one offs –shafts levers etc can it do this. Also on the web site there is no mention of cost.
For the work that I do the best thing about MathCAD is that you can make the calcs look similar to the ones you would do by hand. However MathCAD now has a lot of features that I simply would not use. My wish is for a basic MathCAD just to do simple mechanical engineering calcs. £600 is a lot to...
I have been trying to draw an accurate representation of a spline BS 3550 and have written a program to plot, from a given base circle, the involute between the major diameter and the minor diameter.
However is the spline form a true involute or does the cutter “modify” the involute as it...
My understanding is that Chain is more efficient where as the shaft drive is slighlty less so.
In commparrison; the efficiency of the chain is about the same in all ratios however the planitary types engage and disengage additional stages so the efficiency changes dependent on the ratio you are...
It’s doing my head in because yesterday I was certain it worked that way. But was informed that I was wrong so I tried all my stock of books and none give the answer in simple terms. One infers it and gives a picture with arrows but depends how you read the diagram.
Thanks.
We have upgraded to V15 however the QuickPick selection tool is un-usable. It is incredibly slow. Tried adjusting the setting but it is virtually impossible to select a part. Is it possible to revert to V14 or is there a fix for it.
I am interested in the efficiency of large transmissions - 6 x 6 12 tonne off road vehicles and buses /coaches. Form the engine output through to the wheels. Is the efficiency constant with speed or does it reduce at higher speeds?
Also what is the cost of a new transmission?
Thanks in advance
EN 24 is to British Standard 970 1955 ie old.
and is now equivalent to BS 970 1991 817M40 it is also equivalent ti AISE/SAE 4340 It is 1.5% nickel chrome molly steel
In the UK it can be geneally bought to T condition with a tensile range ot 850/1000 N/mm^2 or normalised and later heat treated...
I worked with a student at a manufacturing site he designed a small piece of equipment as part of his final year project. To me this was just another development job part of the normal development work. The student decided to patent it. I thought this was bizarre and advised him not to, with...
THE RULE OF THUMB THAT I HAVE USED IS THAT THE PRESSURE DROP OF THE SPRAYS SHOULD BE 10% OF THE PRESSURE DROP OF THE HEADER.
THIS HAS WORKED ON STEEL PLANT.
I DONT KNOW WHERE IT CAME FROM SO I HAVE NO REFERANCES
I have done some work stressing out short circular projections a long time ago.
The block will be in shear and bending:-
The maximum stress from bending lies on the top and bottom surface of the block and will be tensile and compressive. This will go from max to 0 at the neutral axis.
The...
1) Can the motor back drive the chain to lower the door.
Yes. The motor will be being used as a brake. There is no torque reversal i.e. the load is from the same direction.
2) If back driving, can the motor hold the door or are the brakes required to be on.
The motor should have the torque to...
