This is my problem. I need to build a cofferdam within an existing canal. The subsurface material is rock and it is very permeable. My plan is to first construct a braced cofferdam and then construct a concrete tremie seal (3 ft)/tie-down anchors all under water. Once the...
Hello:
I have a project (in NYC area)where existing timber piles (40 ft long) need to be removed to facilitate installation of new piles. If anyone can share his/her experience on such pile extraction (for projects, especially in NYC area) would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hello Fellow Engineers:
I would greatly appreciate if anyone can shed some light on the following.
1. Is 40-ft timber pile extraction possible? Any reference such as projects (particularly in NYC area)where such piles were successfully extracted and the methods used, will be useful.
2. Unit...
I have SPT 'N' data in clayey soils. For N=0 case, (or weight of drill rod)I need to find out what su value I can assign, say for a fully saturated sample (PL=39, W=76, LL=87) located under 1 tsf effective overburden pressure. (This is part of an exercise for slope stability analysis). I look...
pbonarrigo,
can't you add 6" of dirt around the foundation base thus satisfying the code. Also,if this fill is made to slope away from the house, it should help drainage too!
