    SS URD Transformer Corrosion Failure

Sounds like the installation of some sort of cathodic protection may be in order. I am not exactly sure (it has been a lot of years) but I believe that one tenth of of a milli amp will plate out seven pounds of cu. in a year. I would look into protecting your investment.

If you weren't an engineer, what would you be?

Explosives Demolition Heavy Equipment Construction If you can't build it, break it Now that is either initial susess or total failure.

    xfmr loading

Also, what is the rating of the transformer high and low side voltage? Also, what are the actual voltages impressed on the trasformer? PF of the load would be very helpful. also, is the transformer physically located in an area that does not allow for ample airflow for cooling? What are the...

    CT turns ratio

The turns ratio of the transformer tells you how the current is going to be changed. The ratio of 100/5 is the nominal turns ratio. On large power bushing type transformers the primary turn is one. So for a ratio of 100 to 5 or 20 to 1 the secondary would need to have 20 turns. This say when...

    Power System Stabilizers

I am trying to locate some information on the testing of power system stabilizers i.e. there are procedure to test PSSs but i was wondering if anyone has come accross any generic test forms that may be in the public domain. Thank you

    Motors and Starters Burning

I agree with these previous posts on this problem, I would install a portable fault recorder and set the trigger levels to capture everything with a slight drop in voltage. Then retrieve the events from the recorder daily and look at the waveforms these will tell you exactly what is happening...

    Magnetic Clearances Around Reactor Banks

sorry about the lack of info to start with these are air core reactors and they are operating at 17kV and have a fault duty of 65KA.
