Chris,
Thanks for the response, I also found that post last week.
Kellnerp,
I have not been involved much yet with the entire process except
for initial discussions about which program to go with. Ultimately the decision was made by management and our I.T. department. We are having a VAR come...
In about a week the company I work for will be moving to DBWorks for our PDM system. We are currently on PDMWorkgroup. I will be an administrator of the new system along with 3-4 of my co-workers. Does anyone here have any information about making this switch that they would be willing to share...
I believe what you are looking for is found here...
Right click in PDM, and go to Solidworks Workgroup PDM Options. Go to the Vault tab. In the "Show selections in Project Manager for" area, make sure "part" is checked.

I tend to leave fasteners underdefined (able to spin). Virtually all other components I will completely mate in place. I can tell when things are slow at my company by looking back at assemblies I have done and seeing the fasteners fully mated.

I would also look at "Clearance Verification". Both of these are under the "tools" menu.

There is a tool called "Interference Detection" that may do what you are looking for. I have not used it, so I cannot say for sure either way...

You are correct sir. If you have a sub-assembly in an assembly, you cannot add an assembly level mate between two components in that sub assembly. You would have to add the mate at the sub-assembly level.

I just pulled this from the solidworks.com "knowledge base"...
Question: Can a flexible sub assembly be loaded lightweight?
Answer: No, a flexible sub assembly is always loaded as resolved.

I am not positive on this, but in System Option/Performance underneath the "Automatically Load Components Lightweight" it sounds like you may have the "Always Resolve Sub-Assemblies" checked, and maybe it should'nt be?

I would recommend you ask about this on the solidworks.com forums also. I remember having seen posts there about this topic.

Try hitting Ctrl-P to print, and when the print window
pops up, hit "advanced" in the lower left hand corner. From there, check the "print as image" check box. We have had success printing larger PDF's after checking that box.

This rebuild "hiccup" was happening to me again today, so I did a little investigating. If you search for "S-034492" or
"S-037560" in the Solidworks Customer Portal Knowledge Base you will get results that appear to be the issue, and the fixes they mention do seem to work.

SolidWorks...
I have had the same thing happening at various times since our company upgraded to 09. Im guessing it is an 09 "enhancement".

Thats interesting, because it seems to work for me. If I open a drawing, then click on the drawing icon in my SW feature tree, it jumps right to it in the PDM tree.
Of course, hearing that PDMWorks is not doing something correctly is not surprising...
