    User work plane visibility

In an assembly is there a way to make a selection of parts and/or subassembies and turn on/off all their user work planes, axis, points for just those? I'm finding it time consuming to toggle all work features on and then going into each part and turning off what I don't need. When I toggle...

    Projected punched hole on arcs

This sounds like a very clean method. Thank you.

    Projected punched hole on arcs

mcgyvr, I will attach some PDF images of what I'm trying to accomplish. As you can see I do have a work around. I started with the outside rolled flange with slotted holes. I added the inside flange without holes. I wanted to create slotted holes on the inside flange that lined up with the...

    Projected punched hole on arcs

I have a cylindrical housing with a 2" wide mounting flange around the perimeter. There is a part that needs to mate to the outside of this with a similar flange. I have the punched hole pattern in the first housing flange and I would like to know if there are any tricks to projecting the...

how to fold a sheet metal in inventor

You must have linear edges as fold lines. The part you are developing cannot be folded/unfolded as one model (in Inventor). You will need to generate a model to show the flat pattern and then another for the "pressed" shape.

    Vault

I work in a group of three engineers in our company. Is it worth the effort to set up the Vault management system for a group so small? I like the ability to maintain all the links while working with checked out files on a local drive but am intimidated by the effort to set up and maintain the...

st moved from xp to new win 7 system, no improvement

Make sure to try using the hardware driven graphics rather than software in the options to see if that improves your performance in either version. 64 bit will only show improvement if you are running assemblies with large part counts.

    Plane to assembly sketch?

Simple example to explain my question: An assembly with two identical cubes spaced apart a given distance x from their nearest faces. How would you create an assembly work plane that is always x/2 from each object (always in the middle of the two). I know you can constrain a work plane to a...

    ST3 steering wheel entry

    I'll give it a try.

    ST3 steering wheel entry

Steering wheel dimension entry is not working in ST3. Does not work in any environment (part, assembly...). I can pick the face or parts, reposition the wheel, change the axis but I can enter a fixed value for the move or rotation. Any suggestions. Jef. Windows 7, 64bit ST3

    Normal Cut

EngAddict, Thanks for the response. I believe your solution is very close to the one I was using. It required a few extra steps on the tree but it's not difficult. I assume Inventor has a macro language or is VBA capable. If I had to do it a lot I could write a command. Thank you.

    Normal Cut

rollupswx, Your example is still not quite what I am looking for but thank you. Let me see if I read you here. You used a revolution to create a cut profile on the top of the panel then thickened it with the cut option on to create a hole down to the bottom of the panel. Right? You have...

    Normal Cut

rollupswx, First of all let me apologize for being rude. I do appreciate any help someone gives me in this forum or the others I visit on EngTips. I viewed your image and either I haven't explained what I'm trying to do well enough or I'm missing what you are trying to show. Please see my...

    Normal Cut

rollupswx, I could not help to notice the tone of your post seems to be to "school" me on proper sketching. I intend to read your article but I hope it contains useful insight on my particular problem and not just proper sketching methods. The part file provided was a sample which contained...
