Save the required worksheet as a comma-separated or Tab-delimited text file and use *VREAD or *TREAD to read in the data. I found *TREAD typically more useful as it doesn't require data format specifier.
I am updating one of our old FEA models (that used the legacy SOLID45 elements) to use SOLID185 and in the process I noticed that the integration point principal stresses available via ETABLE (NMISC) are no more available for SOLID185. Is there a way to access those integration point stresses...
I am not sure about workbench but are you doing the same thing in the beam vs. solid element models?
Why are you using General beam section (SECTYPE,1,GENB,plastic)? How are ensuring that they have same geometrical properties? Did you check your solid and beam models have same moments and total...
Thanks much bruteblood. The note makes sense. May be that's the reason why some times the permeability coefficient for H2O is given for certain materials in Polymer Handbook and the Vapor Transmission rate other times.
On the the other hand, I am still not clear when "the inverse relationship...
Hi,
I am new to vacuum technology and recently confronted with a problem of polymer seal design for a vacuum application. I am calculating the permeation rates of various gases through polymers.
After going through some handbooks for permeability coefficient values of gases for polymers I am...
Hi,
I am trying to solve an air permeation problem through a polymer seal but i don't have any experience in vacuum technology. I worked on this problem a bit but not sure if my approach is correct.....
Let's say I have a cubical Glass vacuum chamber (volume V) with initial high vacuum...
Hi,
Here is a simple permeation problem I am trying to solve but confused with the calculations
Let’s say I have a cubical Glass vacuum chamber (volume V) with initial high vacuum about 10-5 torr. (No more pumping to maintain this constant)
The chamber has a rectangular seal of area 'A'...
Hi,
We have ANSYS/LS-DYNA license and i can generate a the LS-DYNA input file (*.k) by using "write jobname.k" option in ANSYS GUI (under solution). I can solve this separately using LS-DYNA executable as we have a separate LS-DYNA license. However when i Issue the SOLVE command with in...
I have True-Stress vs True-Strain data from tensile test experiments. this data has more than thousand points(x,y) to totally define the stress-strain curve starting with the initial linear elastic response followd by plasticity (hardening) till necking.
Now the questions are
(1) Do i need to...
Steve,
You are right. I think people already thaught in those lines and concluded that there may be significant error if we represent viscous dampng through non-viscous and viceversa.

Seymours,
Yes, that could have been a well posed question....
I am not a vibrations guy so may be dumb questions...... How diferent the response of a structure would be in material vs. viscous damping? Can't we incorporate viscous damping in to material damping which could be easily input...
