Sorry the attachment didn't seem to take. Here is the part file for the modeling flat pattern error (hopefully) I looked all over to figure out how to edit my thread but couldn't find it so geuss i'll just...
I am modeling a vertical 6" diameter pipe support which is approx 7' long and intersects a 7' diameter 45 degree duct. the centerline of the pipe support is tangent to the outside of the duct it supports, so the top of the pipe has a weird cutout which i've created by using a subtractive sweep...
is there a way to create 2 different parts lists for the same assembly, 1 list in structured bom view and the other in a parts only bom view, all in the same drawing file but different sheets?
Major frustration - when i go to export a bom to excel i get error dialog that says: "couldn't create database--exception: unable to append data to file."
Does anyone know why this happens?
I'm trying to join a spline (or segment of an elipse) to other polylines in order to extrude a solid. Autocad won't let me join splines with other plines to accomplish this. I need to use the spline or segment of an elipse as part of the overall profile shape to extrude. Any suggestions out there?
is there any way to do a 360 degree fold on sheet metal without the rigamaro of doing two 90s, etc. i'm trying to create cylindrical shapes for industrial nozzles (duct) etc. am i missing some neat inventor functionality for creating cylindrical ducting that i can then create flat patterns for?
I'm having a problem when I have several sheets that use parts lists based on the same assembly. On the main assembly sheet I want the parts list collapsed so I only see subassemblies. However, on other drawing sheets, I want the list expanded so I can see the parts. When I expand the parts list...
MGYVER,
Thanks for tip. The only problem I see is that when I specify the " in the suffix, it's a dumb annotation in that if there's already a suffix such as a degree symbol, etc, it will put the inch marks after it anyway. I'm just surprised Inventor doesn't allow you to specify units as inches...
Is there any way to base a drawing view on a different drawing file without breaking continuity to the subordinate views such as sections, etc.
I created an entire sheet of sections cut from a plan view that was based on an assembly file (.iam) which is actually a subassembly. Now I think it...
I know the grid is available in sketch mode, etc. I have also used the text alignment tool. However, generally speaking are there any snaps or alignment tools to make laying out a neat drawing sheet easier? I've used the view aligning tool, but it only aligns to centers, not edges.
How can I change units format from decimal inches to fractional - say 1/2 instead of .5. I'm trying to get my material size to show up in BOM example a web that is 5/16" x 12" in one column, then length in another column. I already figured out how to bring part parameters into bom, but want the...
