Career Fork (no it's not done!)

It might be a little hard getting back in but you have no problem pointing out how your skill have changed to help your new company of job. "In this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics." Homer Simpson

    Tolerancing style

I also tend to use limit dimensions. It limits the chance of errors reading drawings. People should be able to read drawings but they still have problems reading drawings. Chris "In this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics." Homer Simpson

    FE preparation

Check your state you might not need to take the FE and just jump to the PE. Chris "In this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics." Homer Simpson

    2 HP motor overheating?

That temp look vary low to me. DickDV & edison123 are righ. The big question is how much does the room temp change? If you are at a constent temp then this might not be much of a problem but if the room temp is going to be going up this could be a problem. That is what when motors are tested...

    Motor Design

By zekeman is right bearing are simple. With this small of a motor ball bearing might work. If it do then you can stay with a std motor. Over overshooting will be harder if it is to tight of angle. Chris "In this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics." Homer Simpson

    Motor Design

Talk to the motor vender. They know more about the motor and the bearings. This is the type of question that the motor manufactures get all of the time. Chris "In this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics." Homer Simpson

Speed increase by 6 pole to 4 pole

By the way it is not 50% change in speed 4 pole @ 60 Hz is about 1800 RPM's & 50 Hz is about 1500 RPM's 6 ploe @ 60 Hz is about 1200 RPM's and 50 Hz is about 1000 RPM's Chris "In this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics." Homer Simpson

    PE Application Reference Choice

In Wisconsin you need I think 4 ref. When I got my ref I had two of my former direct supervisor both PE's but EE'e not ME's the other two people that I picked were both ME's but did not have there PE's. Chris "In this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics." Homer Simpson

    Friction: Static vs Dynamic

I think that there is something is worng. I would think that something is worng. Dynamic coefficent is always less static friction coefficent. Chris "In this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics." Homer Simpson

    Motor ball bearing clearance

If you dig in to the SKF NSK or NTN they have all the informastion that you need. The last time that I did a clearances check of a bearing I just opened up my bearing book. I bet that there is something on there web pages that should help. Chris "In this house, we obey the laws of...

    Fan cooled motor without fan

Talking about the back of the hand test. The lab techs that I have worked with had a quick check. If you can keep you hand on a motor for more then 5 sec the temp is under was 120 deg F. But hear is something more useful check the temp rise of the motor. For ever 10 Deg C of constent running...
