Further clarification of the Boxster brake system from the manual.
"To reduce the brake pressure at the rear axle and to adapt the brake pressure to the wheel load distribution a brake proportioning valve with a switch over pressure of 25 bar and a reduction factor of 0.46 has been fitted."...
In the Porsche Boxster a pressure limit valve s fitted to restrict the line pressure to the rear brakes. Under IVA regulation the rear brakes must not lock before the fronts. I understand that this valve stops any chance of rear brake lock.
Yes the IVA mandates mirrors and they must meet the rear view parameters. It does not exclude additional devices.
If all the manufacturers think it is a good idea why is pressure to change not applied? Is there a down side?
OK Greg, Silly question as we are now looking at politicians changing...
With the advent of reliable ,ultra small video cameras and similar screens why can they not be used instead of wing mirrors? Less liable to damage, less aero drag and possible cover of blind spots. I understand that current law does not allow them.
Thanks all. I will use buttons as Greg suggested with a film thickness of 3-4mm. I understand that the reason for the thicker film was to stop screen damage from uneven apertures
Cheers,
Sandy
I am currently working on a windscreen aperture shape. What is the typical adhesive film thickness used by the manufacturer to glue in the screen ? The replacement fitter I spoke to just pushed until the adhesive came out!
The overdrive was also used on Sunbeam Rapier for Race and Rally use as well as on the road cars. The main problem was that in standard form even in road cars the torque limit made it operational on 3rd and 4th gears only. The competition overdrives used a different spring arrangement and were...
Years ago when I had a Shelby Daytona in the US. It had the same lack of boost problems. Seemed to be worse in winter. The engine was a 4 cylinder. Spoke to Shelby who immediately said that it was piston slap (deliberately wide clearances) being picked up by the knock sensor and that I should...
From another posting is this the 4 valve engine that had a camshaft failure from lack of oil? As the origional project used all standard parts where possible have you checked the bucket size against a 2 valve engine. They are available new currently.A new one would give you hardness data.
If it is any help all the spares, part engines, gearboxes etc for this project were purchased from Italy a few years back (5?) by an active US Stratos racer. He had spares such as cams.Maybe you could trace him.

The standard Dino 246 (2.4 litre 6 cylinder) engine is 92.5x60 with a cam timing of 40-52/53-31 lift 36.7mm inlet and 36mm exhaust. Power 195bhp.The standard engine revs to 7800rpm. The engine has a rep for wearing the camshafts if not allowed to warm up for a minute at low revs. I always...
Interesting point about road conditions with reference to tire width/grip. European rally cars use wide and just road legal (have to have a minimum of tread cuts) for the dry, less wide but heavily cut for wet and very narrow high profile heavily cut(studded in some cases))snow tires. Maximum...
The use of a strut hub with a ball joint fitting is used on many 'kit' cars to make a cheap twin link suspension. Typically UK spec Ford parts. The fittings range from a turned alloy top fitting to a welded part. As the KPI of a strut conversion is based on the origional strut fitting which in...
