Thanks guys, form what you guys are saying I gather the following:
1. the reason why assymetry will cause increased heating in transformers is purely due to the presence of zero sequence current.(SINCE NEGATIVE SEQUENCE COMPONENTS DONT HAVE ANY EFFECT)
2. Tripple-N harmonics (3,9,15,21,...) can...
thanks guys...what I meant was "does the presence of negative sequence currents in transformers mean that you have additional heating that you would otherwise not have in the case of a symetrical supply".
"Transformers handle negatvie sequence components the same way they handle positive sequence components"
1 .Does that mean that the negative sequence do not have bad effects on transformers such as increased heating?
"zero sequence components affect transformers in a way that depends on their...
I am looking for a system that can be used to cool and ventilate a workshop as follows:
1. At temperatures below 28 deg C,only a few of the fans are on.
Say 10 of the 20 fans.
2. At temparetures above 28 deg C, the rest of the fans switch
on.
3. The fans that are normally on (the 10...
Is there any particular relationship between the type of system earthing and the protection of the circuit?
What are the typical examples.

For a synchronous motor:
1. what's the relatiship between the output power (or output torque) and the supply current?
2. does the rated current refer to the current from the power supply to the stator windings or does it refer to the field current which is actually fed into the rotor windings?
I live in South Africa where we use 230V@50Hz (yes there is electricity in Africa :)). I bought some device that has battery charger with a 110V@60Hz ac input.
1. Is there a device I could use that takes in the
230V@50Hz and converts to 110V@60Hz?
2. If not could I just get a transformer to...
