I'm trying to find a way to calculate the max load a fork lift can handle if you are using fork extensions, for example I have a lift rated at 5400 lbs at 24 in load center. How would I figure max capacity at 36 in load center. Reason I am asking is I have a gear box that I have to remove and...
Can anyone point me to or give me insight on the OSHA standard for expanded metal mesh size limits for coupling guards. I want to modify some guards on our inert gas system blowers. They are currently made of a solid heavy guage SS sheet metal and house a Rexnord Omega rubber tire coupling...
You can also search for the tech article "The Effects of PWM Voltage Source Inverters on the Mechanical Performance of Rolling Bearings" by Busse, Erdman, Kerkman, Schlegel and Skibinski. I found it to be very interesting.

Do a web search for electrical discharge machining. Check Siemans website, also seems like I read something on Reliance's website. EDM is probably going to get you plenty of info.

Mikko,
There are several websites out there that have example IR images. Snell, ITC, The Infraspection Institute are a few examples. These sites also have IR forums like this one where people share their expertise.

May be best to contact CSI or try the reliability board at www.reliability-magazine.com/ubb2000/cgi/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=Alignment/Balancing/Vibration

Sorex,
As stated above can you look inside while mixing? Is the frquency constant or does it come and go? We had a similar phenomenom occur with one of our vessels. When going through rinse cycle, low fluid level we got some wierd vibration. I looked inside and there was a vortex. When this...

Although I don't record the sounds, I use a headphone set with my data collector and accel. So Greg I guess I do use a combination of vibe and acoustics [ponder].

Ultrasonics is a very useful "ADDITION" to your current program. I use it for leak detection also. As far as replacing vibe analysis I'd say no. It is also good for detecting arcing in transformers, and detecting corona using a parabolic dish. Lube issues can be detected with vibe just as well...
What type falilures are you having. Are they chemical corrosion related. Maybe you could try Nucerite glass coated internals on your existing pumps. If I'm noy mistaken they will stand up to the chemicals and heat you mention. We have a lot of glass lined vessels from Pflauder. Maybe they can...

Thanks for the replies,
So what I gather from the statements above, due to the highly transmissive properties of air, IR would not be a good resource for locating steam leaks, at the source, but maybe farther out as the steam begins to condense. Somewhat makes sense to me. I'll have to do a...
yesterday I was walking by one of our flash tanks, 450# cond to 90#steam, and heard a hissing sound. I couldn't really tell if it was a leak at the sight glass, which is common at our facility, or coming from somewhere else. I scanned the sight glass with our e-4 camera and saw nothing. Instinct...
