Is it possible in NX9 to set a default parasolid export version?
I see customer defaults for everything except parasolid.
I am exporting parasolids quite often using an earlier version due to the capabilities of the software I am importing it in to.
Thanks,
Bart
You could use a model dimension from a sketch. You are looking to create a foreshortened dimension.
1)Add the desired dimension to a sketch in the model.
2)Add a temporary view to the drawing.
3)Add the dimensions of the sketch to the temp view.
4)Shift + Select the dimension you want to add to...
justkeepgiviner,
That is one of the best descriptions I have heard on this site for a long time. I deal with CAD data migration all day long.
The other option not mentioned is to translate a feature based model from the vendor CAD system into yours. ONLY then will you be able to fully modify...
If your Solidworks VAR is worth anything, and you are still on maintenance, they should be able to help you get this set up. "Attend training and we will help you" is not a valid answer.
Try this. see attached assy.
I assume you are trying to extrude the sketch in the 2in weld ferrule up to the hopper outer surface.
It makes it a little more difficult since the weld ferrule has links to another assembly. I basically created a sketch on the end face on the hopper and extruded a...
I usually find XYZ coords for 3 points on a plane, create the points, create datum plans on these points. I do not know of any way to remove the references for datums other than to redefine the datum. As far as sketch geometry, while in the sketch, go the the Sketch menu and pick references ...
If the surface is planar, create a sketch on that face with the text in it and leave the sketch visible. If the surface is not planar, create the sketch with text, extrude it as a surface extrusion and create a intersection curve between the surface extrusion and the surface to project it onto...
Thanks John.
This is what I was looking for. Given a directory with "a bagillion" part files in it and I only need a few hundred isolated for my assembly, copy and paste as provided by the team from Redmond Washington does not quite cut it. I will try this UG option and see how it works. I...
toniechang,
Option 1... I found the thread where SOLIDNX links to the download but the site is not available any more. Do you have this or where I can get it?
Is there a way to "backup" an assembly to a different location?? Pro/E and Solidworks have a saveas option to create a backup of the entire assembly. Can this be done in Unigraphics (NX4)? It used to be done as a "clone" but I do not have those capabilities here.
My understanding and experience with Ideas and UGNX and migrating data from one to the other is this: I have not been able to modify the feature history of an Ideas model with UGNX or a UGNX model with Ideas. YOu can get a linked parasolid type import as John was explaining that you can do...
OK, if I would have woke up before I asked a stupid question, I would have turned on the edit sheet toolbar and just click the trim sheet button. I can not find the command in the menu but I found it in the toolbar. Thanks for humoring me while I slept at the wheel.

CATIA V4 does not work well quite often with step. You may have bad step files. Can you get ahold of the original CATIA files?? I usually use a product called 3D-Evolution to open the native CATIA file directly and write out a "flavored" step file for Pro/E. This allows you to clean up the...
