It is quite possible given a proper setup. The early days, the king's of hand starting were volvo marine diesels. They had a compression release lever that you would flip and it would hold the exhaust rocker down just a little bit and hold the valve off the seat thus zeroing out your...
The honing marks and their angle in relation to the bore determine the rotation and speed. You can always tell a rookie because they will believe things like "the rings should be at 120* intervals" and they will break out a protractor and start marking the gaps or some manuals like mitsu/honda...
I have no doubt that changing injectors in this will be only 5x as worse as in a normal duramax and parts will be just as high.
Looks like it's got sucker written on it. Customers will only pay so much for labor before they will be fed up with poorly packaged engines.
He came on speedtalk with those year or two ago but unfortunately could not send anyone a sample valve or attend PRI to show one off. He quit posting after we gave him a warm welcome and invited him to show off his product. After listening to his sales pitch and going over the same pictures...
FSAE is a great project for forumla 1 because instead of the project's goal to build a weekend racer that has some ridiculously small option of mass production, you focus on generating the most ridiculous stuff that will never see production and the judges reward you for it. Items such as 8...
I know it sounds goofy but check out hondata's spacer setup. there are several studies they did showing like 50+ degree drops in intake manifold temp. Dyno tested gains (not that I belive the dyno is accurate enough to measure them) but alas. It's accepted as "tested true" in the honda-tech...
Most IDI injectors just screw into position with a copper crush washer underneath them. It's about as technical as a sparkplug. DI's are a different ball of problems entirely.
I would think it would be difficult to get a cam/bucket system adapted to large lift long duration cams assuming we are modifying a stock component for drag race duty. If we're just making brand new stuff then I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem. Getting the lift most drag race big cube engines...
1000 RPM. Unless it's a gigantic amount of lift, I find it hard that any efficiency will be gained over a cam/lifter setup. You could use the EVT to test stand a tried and true setup so you wouldn't have to grind a bunch of cams. Mechanically speaking it's hard to beat cam and lifters with...
6.5L diesels are fragile enough. Last thing they need is more boost. ;) ever thought about adapting your boost control solenoid feed from your truck to control the VNT.
many things have been done to account for lag. Fuel into the manifold is bad because it's hard on the turbines.. some people would inject CO2 or compressed air at the compressor blades. That worked but the CO2 had issues with it being so cold.
It depends on what you want weight wise. Many sailboat engines are watercooled diesels that fit your HP rating. Westerbeke, Yanmar, Kubotas, volvo's. Etc. They all weigh a good bit.
It's more that you must run a thermostat on your oil cooler because if you don't "The oil cooler will cool to much and the colder oil will damage your engine". Such as if it's a brisk day out my engine runs a low temp just driving around. But alas it will take hour or so to even begin to get...
