    Certified SolidWorks Tests now Online?

    From my own experience, I tend to agree with Brian. It could be I was just lucky with my questions, but I was, with careful scrutiny, able to get all the information from the pictures, after first thinking it wasn't complete. Lots of information was given by means of center lines. Not that I...

    Certified SolidWorks Tests now Online?

    I received a similar email. First time around my score was 145 so I was happy to get the second chance. I also got the same questions again, but with different variables. Since I was confident of passing the second time I would rather have had different questions, it feels a bit like...

    CATIA versions

    An unfortunate side effect of this story for Solidworks (and other non-Catia systems) is that they get pushed out of the aerospace market. I used to work for an Airbus supplier. For design and manufacture of their type of products, Solidworks (their current package) is as good as or better than...

    kg ----> lb

    Some of our templates and older parts are set to pounds instead of kilograms. When an engineer doesn't correct that, the displayed weight will be wrong.

    kg ----> lb

    Yes, but that means that if the models mass property setting is not correct, the displayed mass is also not correct and I'd want to avoid that before automising.

    kg ----> lb

    This method works if you use only one type of mass units. But in our company we use both pounds and kilograms in our parts. Does anyone know if it is possible to tell the Design table what units of mass are being used in the part, so that regardless of the unit used, the weight on drawing will...

    Crosshatch on out of date dwg views

    Is there any way to prevent Solidworks completely from showing the crosshatches for out of date drawing views? Perhaps with some registry setting? I know there is an option to prevent SW from printing them, but that doesn't work in view-only mode, or from E-drawings. With very large assembly...

    2006 - Are you using lightweight?

    Has this bug been resolved now? I couldn't find it in the SPR list. What is the general opinion on the 2006 lightweight mode? Personally I think it is a huge improvement, and have been wondering if there's a catch. The ability to use lightweight drawings has changed the feature from being...

    Flores, SW2006 is compatible with Excel2000, at least the beta was.

    Win XP Pro x64 Edition

    I just installed SW2004 sp5 on XP64, and it seems to run fine. No noticable performance difference, but I am hoping to be able to use more memory (up to 4 GB?). I haven't had a chance to test that yet. Maarten

    Selecting components in assembly

    Try 'Advanced Select' (under Tools), it's quite powerful. First hide all components, then create the criterea to select the components you want to display, run the query, and show them using the RMB menu. This also a great way of hiding or suppressing small items by the way. Regards, Maarten
