    2D 'Model Space'

Hey, Many thanks to all of you for the help and suggestions. I'll look into the various methods that are available to me. It's a shame there is not the exact feature I'd like to use, but you cannot have it all! Cheers, M

    2D 'Model Space'

Okay... lets try this one then. I do know CAD, I've used it for the last 16 years with a range of software. I last used AutoCAD in 2002. In my last company I completed 3 weeks worth of off site training for SolidEdge to enable myself and a colleage to integrate 3D CAD into the company... So my...

    2D 'Model Space'

Nope... [change of description/package] In AutoCAD 2D, drawing would take place within the model space, then you create viewports for the paper space... This is what I would like to do in SW. Cheers, M

    2D 'Model Space'

Hi, Many thanks for the quick reply. What I need to create is a set of 2D drawings during a transition stage within the company. Within SolidEdge, which we used at my last company you could create a 3D part, then create a drawing based on that part (nothing different there). You were then able...

    2D 'Model Space'

Hi, So I need to produce a drawing that I would traditionally create in model space and then bring across into the paper space as required... I don't seem to be able to do this in SW. Odd. Cheers, M

Assembly Mating 'Automation' [New to SW]

Yep, that's what I found... it's almost as if the command is not working correctly! Ah well...

Assembly Mating 'Automation' [New to SW]

Cheers, that should be most helpful... unless there is another method of using the features in toolbox to insert it like a bolt? M

Assembly Mating 'Automation' [New to SW]

Hi, I've made the transition from SolidEdge in my previous company to SolidWorks in my current company and I'm trying to do something that should be quite simple. I've read the manual/tutorials etc, but still hitting a brick wall. To keep it simple, here's what I'm trying to do. Part 1 -...

Angular Dim text & line position

Hi, There is quite a simple method of moving the dimension value and that is to first click and hold the number with LMB, then press and hold the shift key. You will then be able to move the location of the dimension value. M

    Hole Counting

There is one slight draw back to this... if you suppress any holes in the pattern, they will still be counted. Which for me was a slight pita(!) M

    Scaling in one direction only...

Hi, The stretch command seems to only allow a stretch across a series of lines. I have a set of lines that need to be reduced in one axis. In AutoCAD I could lock one direction and then 'squish' the lines... or to put it another way in say photoshop, a picture can be 'squished' in one direction...

    Scaling in one direction only...

Hi, I cannot seem to find how to scale a simple 2D drawing in only one axis. Scale only gives both direction... what am I missing, or is this Working As Designed? Cheers, M

Macro Writing... Could somone knock this up?

Hi, Thank you for that it really did work just fine! The only thing that I spotted that was different was the non displaying of the Triad... I cannot work out why it's not though. M

    Stretching part a view...

Hi, Most of the time a detail view would be the best way. This particular drawing is of a 1mm thick gasket... and historically we don't draw a detail view for such an item, just stretch it. I guess I'll have to go forward with plan that we will have to change how we draw the items(!) :) Cheers, M

    Stretching part a view...

Hi, This is maybe a long shot but here goes... I have an item that is 1mm thick. In the past the width of the item is just exaggerated and an line drawn underneath to show this is not to scale. In 3D, everything is modelled to scale, I cannot find a way to make this item wider as we would in...
