Mechanical skills testing for plant employees - ideas to implement?

I have been on both sides of this, and I can tell you one thing. Invest the time and energy in training your people to do what you need in a safe, standardized way. Give them the tools and training to do this. It will in itself, give you a good indicator of the cross-section of skills you have...

    Incompetant Supervisor

    1. As a manager you are responsible for the success and / or failure of your group. 2. I have seen several situations of "promotion into incompetency". Excellent technical, crap managerial....It happens. Historically, it seems companies reward with promotion and money instead of money in the...

How best to approach and explain decisions on hiring to HR

I have used a DDI format interview guide. If nothing else, it gives you a consistancy from interview to interview (Score by situation / experience). This would somewhat negate anyone in HR kicking up a stink about you being too picky. In my experience, that is HR being lazy (They just want you...

I was wondering if this conveyor starts and stops, and if so, at the same position. That would add probability toward Tbuelna's theory.

    Lifting slings for pickle process

Yes ED thats our problem, time constraints and added safety issues make switching slings a last option. I did have your contact information to discuss this very issue, though like many things, I miss-placed it! See file attached, feedback appreciated...

    Water/Oxide Staining on Duplex 2205

I would check back with the mill, looking at the picture it seems a little too localized to be from rinsing. They should be rinsing with hot water, evaporation= minimized staining.

    Lifting slings for pickle process

Hello StoneCold Yes we looked at SS but there are some concerns around compromising the safety factor of the chains over time. We are lifting up to 9000lbs of product and immersing them into the acid then lime tanks. It seems we have slings that are good for one or the other, but not both.

    Lifting slings for pickle process

Looking for the impossible here. Lifting slings that can stand up to being submereged in HF / Nitric mix, then Lime neutralization. Polypropelene, Nylon and 304 stainless all poor performers. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can provide more information if required, though this is not a...
