Hi all,
Is it really necessary to calculate the external pressure of U-Bends? Can we assume the U-bends are self-stiffened as it is joint to the straight part of tube, so the weakest part is the straight long tube?
If we use TEMA RCB-2.31 I have seen many calculator programs...

Hi all,
I'm searching for an analytical calculation (excel formulas) for thermal displacement in offset nozzles on cylindrical shells of horizontal pressure vessels supported by saddle supports.
Could someone to support me in such guidelines to formulate this expanded...
Hi Alireza Moein, thanks for guidance.
I see like in Section I PG-9, you can find the same on Section VIII div 1 UG-4. As per the same assumption, since material is adopted by ASME II-D it can be used for such limitations and restrictions as described. Check the ASME II-D table 1A, if material...
Many thanks to you both weldstan and XL83NL.
You both are having the same interpretations as I did, I just want to make sure I'm doing right interpretation.
The boiler is not requiring ASME stamp, but in other side is requiring CE Marking (ASME+PED) at the site construction/commissioning.
In...
If a boiler is designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with ASME section I plus the PED, I am authorized to use a EN material with a material test report only properly certificated to the standard specification EN10222?
According ASME-I (PG-7.2 and PG-9.1) edition 2015, the SA/EN10222-2...
Hi Weldstan,
Not clear for me, maybe because is not my native language.
Mn max is 1,35% but is reference to increment above 1,06% or is the substitute of 1,06% whenever the carbon is lower than 0,35%?

Hi everybody,
I need a help to interpret the standard ASME-II Part A (2015 Ed.) for material SA-234-WPC and table 1.
Carbon max = 0,35%
Manganese = 0,29% - 1,06%
For the Table 1 on WPC grade the note D is stating: "For each reduction of 0.01% below the specified carbon maximum, an increase of...
Hi everybody, many thanks for your clarifications and sharing your experiences.
It is also my opinion that any stamp marking over inner surface will create an increasing of stress concentrations and is going to have a negative effect on fatigue life.
We had some situations with Heat-Exchangers...
Is it allowed stamping marks by low die stress stamp on inner surface of pressure parts?
For instance on plates that are going to be used on manufacturing of end plugs will be installed on both top ends of header pipes. For some reasons of fabrication process, the supplier is asking to make...

Hi everybody.
In our factory we are able to make a proof process qualification report for cold pressing of P91 headers after welding nozzles to header pipe, without a subsequent heat treatment PWHT.
We know that all grade 91 components that have been welded shall not be...
Someone can guide me how to interpret and calculate the conversion of 10ºF to Celsius based on the context of ASME-I (A-393)?
The value of 10ºF is in the context of a rate of cooling (temperature difference) per minute from the normalizing temperature down to 1100°F.

Is it possible CE mark of designed structures by AISC code?
The materials are according EN standards, and welding process specifications also according EN.
The problem: Is a demand rule that the design of structures has to be according harmonized EN standards in order to have CE marking?

The finned tubes are carbon steel material, in a spiral strip finning machine wrapped around the bare tube (High Frequency Electric Resistance Welded Finned Tubes).
Due to conditions of boiler performance the client wants to have the same as designed, so wants fins on the bends.
Do you know...
