The prefered way is to add the relation to each part so that the info is available at all levels including PDM or intralink.
so in each part enter area=mp_surf_area("") as a relation.
in a table repeat region in the drawing for the assembly use Enter Text>Report symbol and choose...
Just to be clear. If you set the option to embed the picture is embedded with the .drw file and can also be viewd with P-View express. This is the functionality that allows the preview of drawings in the Open dialog box.
If the drawing creator turns on the config.pro option
save_drawing_picture_file and set it to both then P-View express will show it. Pro will create a file like filename.pic.1 and will also embed it in the drawing.
I'm not sure this is what you want but here goes. Use the arrow select tool and drag a rectangle around all of your dims. Now select edit>toggle lock. You will get all of the selected ones at once.

text_height_factor set it to 30. The bigger the number the SMALLER the text. 20 is LARGE, 60 is small.
