That could be because I can do a debug.print on the field and get a return. The only other thing I can think of is that I'm trying to populate the field with an incorrect format for the date. I used to do quite a bit of SQL and I remember dates and date formats can be fussy. Do you know what...
TheTick,
Thanks for the reply. The reason is that we do quite a bit of design copying with pack and go and when we do that the creation date of the original file comes with and we would like to update that to when we did the pack and go. Thanks! Any ideas?
I'm trying to create a macro to update the swSumInfoCreateDate field on an open file to today's date. I can get today's date with "Date$" and I can assign a string date to a variable but I cannot get the date into the swSumInfoCreateDate field. Here is my code. Please help. Thanks!!

MadMango,
Thanks for the reply. It's actually funny that you mention drawings because our current ERP system titles do not always match the drawings right now so once I have a standard I may need to learn how to write a lisp routine to update all title blocks, etc. to make them match. Not...
Thanks for the replies We are actually not developing the software in house we are just implementing it. What I'm looking for is a standard in how we describe our parts (ie, "bearing, roller, 2x3", or "HHCS, 1/4-20 X 1.5"). If we have to purchase the ANSI standard we will do that but mostly...
My company is in the process of implementing an ERP system and we need to develop a standard for the descriptions of all our parts. I know there is an ANSI standard out there somewhere but I'm having trouble finding it. Can anyone direct me in the right direction. Thanks!
I am looking for a beam equation for a propped cantilever beam. All the equations I have found show the load in the middle and the prop at the end. In my case I need the prop in the middle and the load at the end. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks!

I have a situation where I have a polymer that is continuously loaded and I need to look at creep. If I model it as a cantilever beam the extreme fiber stress is 441 psi. I've done some research and found that if this stress is below the "creep limit" I do not need to be concerned with creep...
Anyone have any insight on the differences between Ansys Design Space and Algor? I typically do static linear deflection analysis, our stress levels are so low we don't look too closely at them. Thanks!
Thank you all for the replies. I'm gathering information on your recommendations. I have used ANSYS Professional in the past to look at static deflections so I have some basic FEA knowledge. In my industry 90% of the problems involve knowing how the model will deflect, we are usually so far...
I am a Mechanical Engineer involved in Machine Design. The company I work for is looking into FEA packages for doing mostly static deflection, static stress, assembies with surface contact (ie bolted joints, etc.), and possibly frequency response and fatigue. We would use the system to...
