I bought a cable tester for $100 or less that did basic continuity testing on standard computer cables. It tests a bunch of types.
Honestly, if you want a turnkey supplier for a cable tester, you are out of luck. Your connectors are your connectors, but modifying a simple cable tester with...
Freewave makes a pile of ethernet radios. I use them in a remotely operated vehicle with a several mile range.
There are ethernet and serial versions.
itsmoked is right. More info would be helpful to answer better, but head to http://www.freewave.com/products/product-141.html> and take a...
Hey Keith...
I took your advice and contacted the manufacturer. It only took two calls to get to a guy who wondered how the hell I managed to find him, but who could not / would not / did not know how to deal with the paperwork portions. I've got a call into his boss, and it'll likely take a...
Hey ve1bll...
They last several years.
I've never seen an automotive battery treated well....i.e., temp compensated charge, multi-stage charging, etc. They are basically a float application... they output power only when the engine is off or starting... the rest of the time, trickle charge...
hey felixc,
The battery of which I am speaking is NOT protected against anything, which is one of the reasons I think it's overcharged. It has no charger. It is simply connected in parallel (almost) to the vehicle power buss. (There is an isolation diode, of course.) Lame, huh? BTW, not my...
I'm using a 58 F, 15V supercap in place of this for one application. Good idea, though. It works pretty damn well, too.
Powers the stack for 30 seconds at 8 Amps or so.
Two non-obvious issues... charge currents don't allow for a direct drop in. Fuses blow, wires melt. It takes...
Thanks, guys..
Alternator voltage on this rig routinely goes to 14.5 V.
I considered the diode drop, though that's a good observation.
Again, even with an unambiguously fully charged battery, the measured charge current of 50+ mA that never goes away is what I am focused upon. <= .01C is...
I have a pile of small SLA batteries that failed in a backup application.
My tests indicated the problem is due to prolonged overcharging.
I am engaged in a long term argument with a non-electrical engineer who takes alternate viewpoint that the batteries were UNDERCHARGED. I want to get an...
I have an internal client (a civil engineer) who is asking me to assist him in a data collection task.
He is suggesting that I use a low frequency carrier (and I mean sub KHz) to convey high frequency info (and I mean signals with lots of MHz level signal components).
I am trying to explain to...

are you aware of the tekscopes group on yahoo? it has good info on tek hardware in general, and if you join it, perhaps we can link up via that channel. it's free, or as free as it gets with yahoo.
i did mail management here and ask how we can exchange email addressed legally...

I checked. I have code 2.26, too. 4 disks.
ALso, my Backpack account doesn't let me share files, so I'll have to post them elsewhere for you or email them, but I DO know this forum does not like emails to be posted.
Gotta figure out how to do it without angering the gods...
Oldhoorn....
My units work with only one serial port. I think that the second one may be used for chaining two together in some manner.
Your 2.26 code may be the latest, too. I'll see if I can check later.
You have to download code to the thing, then start a DOS program to get it to...
I have several. I located software for them from a variety of sources.
I am not sure if the rules of this forum allow posting of email addresses, but I can probably stick the files (4 MB zip file) on an ftp site somewhere for you.
Only request is that you describe your success/failure with...
Frank,
The OS does not seem to make a difference. I ran the unit(s) last night with DOS7.1 and they run pretty much like they do under WIN98 and WIN2K, so your system must be suffering something else.
Cool machines. I can't wait to get them both fully functional.
