Thanks for all the suggestions gentlemen/ladies, very helpful.
In answer to rbulsara's questions, yes the 400A breakers are in the drives (FLC = 429A). The 1000A CB is in a panel, which is at most 5m from the drive cubicles. We currently feed from this panel to the drives via a 630A CB using the...
Hi Rbulsara,
Sorry for any confusion. Each drive does have its own CB (Existing drives 400A CB's, and new drives 352A CB's). As you stated this 1000A CB is a distribution panel only which feeds these drives.
Uno,
We are taking 3 single core 300mm cables from the outgoing feeder of the new CB to the new drives. These are going over the top of the cubicles on perforated tray, whereas the existing 150mm cables are in trunking under the floor. We do have room for another 150mm if we need to do it...
I am having to upgrade an existing 630A CB, to 1000A due to new equipment arriving. However, the existing 630A breaker supplies two drives/motors via 2 X 150mm 3core cables. We are keeping these existing drives, and adding extra cables onto the bottom of the new 1000A CB, which go off to the new...
Hi All,
We have some 415v/3 phase vent fans and have recently had some trouble with them. A couple have s/c to earth which has caused the main 11kv cb to trip via its s/c current protection (wirewound resistor and voltage sensing relay). The vent fans are protected by a 4-6A cb and 32A...
We have recently had a Merlin Gerin 630A circuit breaker mechanism fail on us, so we are having to replace it. The broken one has themal/magnetic trip settings. The Thermal is x 0.8 and the magnetic is x 5. We are having to replace it with the Merlin Gerin NS630 Compact type CB with a STR 23E...
We are getting some electrical cabinets delivered from America. They are supplying 4 cabinets with 1600A CB's, how do I work out what size CB I need to feed them from our supply tx. What calculation formula do you use, as we do have more coming in of different sizes.
Cheers,
Keithc
I have just had a quote through from a prospective supplier for some LV (415v) distribution panels. He has quoted for the panels to be type 'form 4', which I believe is something to do with the internal make up of the panel to allow for access whilst other parts of the panel are live. Does...
I work for a UK company and we have received some wiring info from the US. The cable size is 2 x 3/0 , which I understand to be 2 of approx 85sqmm cable, but after this they have followed up with 500MCM. Does anyone know what this stands for?
Does anybody have some heat to electrical power equations??
We are moving from shafted printing presses to shaftless, so the printing cylinders need to be cooled.
We are going to be installing several new printing press lines , all using variable speed AC drives. We are also having to supply new 11kv/415v transformers. We estimate total power of transformers to be around 1900KVA. We are put off by the cost of 'active front end' drives , and were thinking...
