    SolidEdge vs. SolidWorks

I am an experienced user of both systems. With over 3 years on each. If I was to be honest would say that Solid Edge is the better. It handles detailing better, has a BOM control in the Assembly environment ( dont underestimate this function ). The assembly display configurations are so usefull...

    2005 SP1.0 Feb 11th?

I have SP1.1 and am not experiencing this problem. However, the machine next to me does and has since the clean install ( running SP 0.1). I assume there is a setting that needs to be toggled.

View on arrow: I'd like an arrow instead of a section line

I had the same problem from a different direction. I wanted two joined arrows but had a single arrow. By using different drawing standards I could change the display to what I wanted but lost other settings. I have not been able to find a single setting that controls the Auxview arrow. I have...

    Revision Table

I have decided to use the revision table built into solidworks. I have modified thetable to the size and content that I like but need it to count up in numbers rather than alphabetically. Can the template be changed from alphabetic to numeric.

    Dimensions adding an M

I am already on sp 0.1 and the problem is still with me. But this is the strange thing. It only appears on some drawings even if the same hole from the wizard is used on different parts. I have spoken to my VAR who said that is probably a bug because others have reported it but it might be a...

    Custom Toolbars

I have been reading these tips for a while now and have collected a number of great Macros. I assing them to buttons on existing toolbars in what I feel is a logical sequence. I would now like to create a custom toolbar rather than add to existing ones but I cannot find out hw to do this. Can...

    Dimensions adding an M

What has happened is that I work in metric (british). Some time in past history the normal template has been set up as ISO not BSI. Then in the upgrade to 2005, a modified hole table has been corrected loosing the hole data from the model. The hole although called an M8 in the feature table and...

    Dimensions adding an M

Why only when it attaches to a thread. And how do I get rid of it.

    Dimensions adding an M

I like to create my own dimensions in a drawing rather than inserting model dimensions. This is the first time I have used the drawing package of SW2005 and I am having a little difficulty. For some reason every time I attach a dim to a threaded hole an M is inserted leading the dimension. If I...

    hatch problems

This works only on a hatch pattern, and even then only on one triangle. As soon as I select solid the hatch is no longer displayed. The next problem is that I cannot select both triangles. When I draw them outside the drawing view it all works, drag them into the view and it disappears.
