Ahhhh, found it!
If anyone else finds this useful to know ...
Within the "Scene Editor" there is a "Global Illuminations" tab.
The image type needs to be "Lighting Image Only" for the reflection map to be available.
When you go into Advanced Studio it switches the global illumination to...
I'm looking in "Scene Editor" at the "Reflection" tab and the "Reflection Map" options are greyed out.
How do I get access to this to turn off Image Based Lighting?
I suspect this happened when I turned on Advanced Studio to play with various image settings.
Is it possible to turn off Advanced...
Thanks for the comments.
Sounds like there isn't necessarily a "rule" but all the comments reinforce my preference for the Ø symbol to be inside the brackets.
JNieman - You've hit the nail on the head ... this came about because I have found it irksome that NX defaults the "reference" function...
Although not GD&T I hope this is relevant ...
If you have a reference dimension which is a diameter, would you put the diameter symbol inside or outside of the reference brackets?
For example Ø(1,23mm) or (Ø1,23mm).
If it doesn't show up on other PC's the "Ø" symbol is supposed to be a...
It would be great if you could do this, but alas I do not believe it is possible.
I just put a text note by the balloon and make sure it is locked to the balloon.
However ... if you have 100 bolts all the same in one assembly then that's fine. (In fact congratulations on your component...
Oh ... and I've just discovered a feature for the resource selection bar that allows you to "Dock on second monitor".
Magic!!
It's the simple things that give me so much pleasure!!!

Magic ...
The second option worked a treat as "Save layout on exit" was already ticked.
It was good to see this only resets the windows layout (which is what you would hope) so you just have to undock and re-hide the resource bars as desired.
Before doing this I took a quick screenshot of my...
If I understand correctly after you have performed the wave-link operation you are removing/deleting the assembled 'parent component' from the assembly structure.
Then the wave-linked instance becomes un-associative.
This is correct though. You MUST keep the assembled 'parent component' in the...
Ok so this shows how pedantic I can be ... [dazed]
When I open a part from Teamcenter the model appears as a window which I then need to "maximize".
It didn't use to do this and doesn't seem to remember my preference when I close NX.
Any ideas how I can force models to open maximized...
Hi Mechman50
Yeah sorry ... scrub the robustness comment!
In your instance (and probably most) there is likely to be no difference.
It's probably a personal thing that I like to do things 'by the book' where I believe you would normally start a sheet metal model with a 'tab'.
Strictly speaking...
I guess it does depend upon whether you need to tie down ...
a) the relationship between the holes
b) the positioning of the hole pattern to the plate
Of course it's likely to be both but it's always worth considering whether you really need both (naturally GD&T is there to allow you only to tie...
Sorry ... I've had a quick go but not been able to.
It strikes me however that this is probably not a 'sheet metal' part. It looks more like a 'pressing'.
If you try and flatten it you would effectively buckle somewhere in the middle or tear the corners.
Jon
Apologies if I've missed the point but ...
Don't convert the bend lines to reference only.
Then when you do what you describe as an "extrude and convert to sheetmetal" just select the perimeter edges of the part for the extrude, not the bend lines.
If you set your "curve rule" (on the "top...
Thanks both.
I like that ... "It should be pretty simple , ... but,".
I'll have a look at the journal although not delved into the journal world much so am a little fearful of breaking something!
Yes we are on NX7.5 but soon to jump to NX10.
No doubt this issue is resolved in NX10!!! ;-)
I want to add an "Identification Symbol" (aka Balloon) to a drawing without the need for a parts list.
The thread linked below suggests this is quite complex but hints at the possibility of a link with Teamcentre.
