Dear All,
I am going to be working with some Ra 226 and I need to put some shielding in place. Does anyone have a figure for the thickness of 4140 steel needed to half the counts?
Thanks,
John
Can anyone point me in the direction of a clear and concise definition of what the difference is between zone 0,1,2 and safe in terms of distance from the well head and other variables?
Thanks,
John
Hush (and everyone else)
I have found out from another source in the Coiled Tubing industry that HF is used as an acidiser to clean out perforations and such like and that it is not naturally occurring in a well bore.
Thanks for everyone’s input.

John McGrath
Dear All,
Does anyone know if Hydrofluoric Acid is used in any well bore treatments such as acidising, or is there any way that it can be naturally occurring in a well bore?
Regards,
John McGrath
Thanks for all the info guys. I was origionally asking if HF could be naturally occurring in an oil well and it seems that the answer is no. The reason is that I have been testing a new product for corrosion resistance against CO2, H2S and other chemicals that can occur downhole at 200C and...
Dear All,
I am testing out new materials for a project that I am working on and I have just been asked it they will stand up to attack by Hydrofloric Acid. From what I can tell there is very little that can stand up to this acid, but I need to know more about it first.
Where does it naturally...
Dear All,
Does anyone have any experience in how a composite rod (aramide or carbon with a poly or epoxy resin) of about 4-6mm diameter will behave when exposed to explosive decompression. And when I say explosive decompression I mean from 10K psi to atmospheric in well under a second.
It...
Austin,
I downloaded the ProjeX freeware and was impressed enough to get the full blown module for $20. The freeware version is so limited that it is usless.
It’s excellent! It offers basic time line tracking in the form of Gantt charts that can be at what ever time scale you like (within...
I have actually managed to put together an excel spread sheet that does update dates and creates a Gannt chart very similar to MS Project as well as colour coding everything.
Oh the power of 'IF', 'AND' functions combined with conditional formatting!
I will still check out the freeware version...
Guy,
It's Excel that I'm using just now, but whenever you change a time it does not update the rest of the items. My boss certainly seems to think that $600 is expensive for MS Project so I'll have to keep looking around.
Thanks,
John
Hi All,
I have recently changed companies and I no longer have access to MS Project to plan my projects.
It is a small company with short term projects and they don’t have, or want to purchase, MS Project. Does anyone have any details of other (cheaper) software packages that I could use...
Pardal,
The shielded wire that you mention is available from several different suppliers and this is what has been used for 30/40 years in the oil field applications that I am looking at. There are several inherent problems with this design and the solution that I am looking for (i.e. a smooth...
