How to measure flash steam flow rate

We have a direct steam oven which uses "once through" steam to cook chicken fillets, the condensate goes direct to drain. There is a very significant flash steam plume emitting from the oven flue, from which we would like to recover heat (using a heat pipe heat exchanger) to pre-heat wash down...

Calculating the steam loss through a leaking PSV

Does anyone have an accurate methodology for calculating the steam loss through a leaking PSV. I'm aware of the method using the length of steam plume where loss (kg/hr)= 2.8*6^L, but this is hardle an accurate method. Any other suggestions much appreciated.

How to detect leaks on Steam Pressure Safety Valves

Thanks Rustbuster, I actually have a UE Ultraprobe, would you listen to the pipe and check for a "whistle" similar to doing steam trap testing? Jimmyvanskip

How to detect leaks on Steam Pressure Safety Valves

I am currently conducting a survey of all the Steam PSVs in our plant to determine which ones are leaking. I have tried using a infra-red thermometer and/or thermocouple to measure the pipe temperature under the PSV while also noting the PSV vent pipe temperature. I then use steam tables to...

Estimating static head on existing system

Im investigating the feasibility of installing VSDs on a system and am aware that potential savings are impeded on a system with a relatively high static head. My question is: How do I determine what proportion of total head on an existing system is static head and what proportion is friction...
