I'd like to see somebody attempt to change the seat inline on a 6" 900# TOV with top entry. I did it some years back on some 12" 600# Top entry TOV's and that was difficult enough. what happens if one of the seat retainer bolts shears in the disc. Try getting a drill and stud extractor into the...
We have had some success fitting 'Nose Guards' to shield the leading edge of the disc and laminated disc seal from solids in the flow. These are simply a curved piece of 316SS angle welded into the valve body or upstream pipework.
Hi
WRC ( Water Research Council UK ) approved valves, materials & coatings are a good place to start to determine the correct selection of valves for potable water.
Typically, 316 stainless steel and certain types of copper alloys are acceptable, along with UPVC and ABS plastics.
Cast iron...
For larger pipe diameters ( DN300 and above )
you may consider triple offset butterfly valves in a DDB arrangement ( ie two discs in one casting ) Zwick Valves of Germany have a lot of shipbuilding and cryogenic supply experience.
Dave,
how low is your hydraulic system pressure? If its below 7 barg or you can reduce it down, why not use the same actuators. We've used standard pneumatic actuators with LP oil as the actuating medium in the past successfully. Although we did change the pneumatic directional solenoid pilot...
LG Ball valves in the uk produce really good High performance ball valves, not cheap... but well worth a look

Whats the line process medium? I Have used ceramic valves on hot gas duty in the past. Try cvalves@aol.com. in the UK (Cambrian Valves Ltd) They supplied some for hot gas services.
11echo,
Whereas I agree with the prevoius contributors that the knife gate valve is primarily used in the paper & waste water industries, there are specialist manufacturers who make 'wafer pattern' bonneted knife gate valves. These have a conventional rising stem/gland packing arrangement...
Thanks everyone for your efforts on this. I have contracted the problem out to a hydraulic analysis company. Let them have the headaches and the responsibility. Thanks again all!
