i think that it is just a matter of language in the end they are just both the same
We in india call them pulleys and had a customer come in from USa who was calling them sheaves and i was wondering what the heck is he talking about !!!!!!
till it hit me that a pulleyand a sheave is one and...
geez
we cut splines on a wire cut very often and use them as gauges
we do have a gear software and can change pressure angle
and module to suit the data
is easy when you have that
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what will be your solution if you find that you have a misalighment????
have you changed gears in the gear box and got a misalignment subsequently? then it is due to helix angles not matching
if it is a new gear box talk to the manufacturer
we manufacture gears for the printing industry and yes banding is a persistent problem on printing machines
a good quality gear with a good quality fitment gets rid of the banding problem
make sure that there is some back lash in running of the gears we have had prnting machine manufacturers...
noise can be generated from a lot of sources in a gear drive
listed are some sources of noise
1 involute profile variation
2 helix angle variation
3 tooth to tooth error
4 misalighment of the bores
5 noise from bearings
6 wrong design of the casing
7 deflection of gear box shafts during load...
we have experinced growth in the material when we use a case hardening steel .If the forgings are not normalised the growth can be excessive
Normal nitriding temperatures are fairly low and do not tend to generate a growth in the material surely you would need to stress releive the material if...
we have used a split worm gear method of controlling backlash by splitting the worm gear in 2 and adjusting the tooth offset to control the back lash
true only half the tooth is in full contact with the worm
but it is good for indexing purposes .
an eccentric worm design to vary the center...
i would say its a simple wear problem
i see that it is pitting in one direction it maybe the direction when the winch is under load and pulling up
I would think it is just that the pinion needs to be hardened to take care of the wear, ask the manufacturer to rectify it
it has been interesting reading this thread and how it veered off the actual problem.
firstly idd has a problem of finding a gear box for 5000in lb torque, I am not from the inch world but as it is a torque rating it cannot be assumed to be the same horse power rating (philrock please note)
you...
