Standard/guide for vacuum test for a presure vessel?

r6155 - Thanks! Ed - I believe the answer to your question is "general vacuum test." We are applying vacuum, closing a valve and shutting off vacuum. Data is vacuum loss (pressure rise) over time.

Standard/guide for vacuum test for a presure vessel?

Can anyone out there direct me to a standard or guide regarding preferred methods for testing pressure vessels? (AIAA, AMSE, NIST, Whatever Association of Pipe-Fitters and Pressure Vessel Experts, etc.) I've read plenty of anecdotal evidence, and intuitively understand how a vacuum test should...

Vacuum Leak Test - gauge and rate?

Thank you all for your replies! Some responses and perhaps better insights: - These parts are currently tested via a positive pressure "bubble test," somewhat as described by CompositePro. We have a requirement to perform some sort of seal check, and this has been the method for some time...

Designing for Wind Tunnel Test Section Velocity

Apologies up front if I missed something in the other replies... You can certainly use Bernoulli and other similar simplifications(VA_1 = VA_2) for a low speed setup like that. If you're going that route, you could also calculate for a top end around 60mph, and your losses will put you in the...

Vacuum Leak Test - gauge and rate?

I am trying to set up a vacuum leak test. I want to apply a vacuum to an assembled panel we produce(~1'x1'x1.5" thick, very little internal space, basically just the space between internal components and outer bezel), then lock the vacuum and measure decay over time. I am thinking ~15-30 mm HG...

Wind tunnel in iPhone 11 commercial?

Hey everyone, I’m trying to figure out what wind tunnel is featured in the recent iPhone 11 commercials. Any thoughts? It’s obviously a low speed, likely research-based facility. Really not sure if it’s a private or government facility. What do you guys think? :)

    compare coefficients/aero models

I have two (2) sets of drag coefficients, purportedly for the same thing. These drag coefficients are used in separate aero models. I know a lot about one aero model, and very little about the other. One thing that stands out to me is that one model uses a constant gravity model, whereas the...

URGENT - LabVIEW network data read

Hey All, So here's my problem: I need to read binary data over a closed wireless network into LabVIEW. I know (or will know) the IP address/Port # for where the data is coming from. This will be live, streaming binary data that I will then have to convert into an array or matrix or whatnot, in...

needs to solve system of 4 eqns, 4 unknowns

    FeX32, My bad, I mis-entered the equations in first post sqrt(x^2+y^2) + t + sqrt((val1-x)^2 + (y-val2)) + Const1 = 0 sqrt(x^2+y^2) + t + Const2 = 0 sqrt(x^2+y^2) + t + 3*sqrt((x-val3)^2 + (z-val3)) + Const3 = 0 sqrt(x^2+y^2) + t + 2*sqrt((val4-y)^2 + (z-val2)) + Const4 = 0 x, y, z, and...

needs to solve system of 4 eqns, 4 unknowns

    Hello All, I what what I thought (once again!) was a fairly straight-forward problem to solve, but I can't quite seem to get there. I have 4 eqns, 4 unknowns. Equations are along the lines of: sqrt(x^2+y^2) + z + sqrt((val1-x)^2 + (y-val2)) + Const1 = 0 sqrt(x^2+y^2) + z + Const2 = 0...

read (input) file as real-time data

Hopefully this one is easy. I think this should be a no-brainer, but I haven't used LV extensively in quite a while... :P I have a text file I want to read in to labview (I'm good there); but I want to read it in at, say, 200Hz, as if to simulate a real-time data stream. I'll be using my VI for...

system of equations - square root involved

Thanks Brad. I think fzero, or another built-in optimization function, may be what I'm looking for. The pieces are slowly starting to fall back into place.. :) Thanks to all.

system of equations - square root involved

Excellent suggestions...except that I'm on Matlab R2007a, and I only have the Image Processing and Signal Processing toolboxes. That doesn't mean I can't get Optimization or others, but I'm trying to make due with what I have at my disposal. Very frustrating, as I can...almost...remember...what...

system of equations - square root involved

Hey Y'all, I'm a bit rusty, and could use some help in solving a system of equations. Let's say I have 2 equations, 2 unknowns (simplified for discussion's sake), and one of my equations looks something like: B1 = (const1)x1 + (const2)x2^2 + sqrt(x1-x2). Assuming I can't come up with a third...
