Is there a reference or some direction you can give regarding whether or not to use seam welded SS pipe versus seamless SS pipe in creating heat exchanger tube bundles?
I assume that heat treating for stress relief must be an issue. Any others?

I usually negotiate for more. I have been given more and also been told they could go no higher. I typically never let that be the sole deciding factor. I never felt bad for asking for more. I have heard some say that not asking for more could be thought of as a negative. I'm sure some feel that...
ddbyrd,
I've been out of the loop lately and am just now seeing your reply. Thanks for the info. BTW, what type of manufacturing are you in? How big is your facilty? Do you will you have to do any major shop layout changes to accomodate better Lean practices? Where do you get your LEan education...
I've almost always negotiated. Almost always they have come up at least a little. Two times they didn't budge, but I took the job anyway. On time it was very frustrating because the owner offered me the job at a certain salary (which was the exact number I taold him I was already making), but he...
OK,
Maybe I was a little hot-handed in my post. FOr that, I apologize if I offended anyone. Seriously.
I have no problem with foreigners- any foreigners- coming to the US and working my trade or any trade for that matter if they get paid at the general going rate. Ideally, I probably shouldn't...
Great, I guess this is a "screwthe US" thread now, huh? Can you give me one good reason why we, as enginers, shouldn't pull away from foreigners trying to take our jobs at half what we get? Its only natural to want to secure your living when foreigners are taking the bread off of your table...
Anyone implementing Lean in their shop? How is it working? Is it a struggle? Has there been any payoff? Have the workers fought or struggled against the implementation? Where do you or did you get your Lean training or assistance with setting up the process? Any major (or minor) negatives or...
macgyver,
Thank you for the reply. Any idea where I might find the PCB in my Rodeo? Near the fuse panel under the hood? Near the fuse panel near the driver's floorboard? Elsewhere?
I'll try an internet search as well.
Thanks again.

jmw has a great point.
The spreadsheets in our office do not really have any proprietary info. Its formulas and whatnot that are common engineering knowledge.
I'm not sure why my company keeps them PW protected as its not anything that can hurt them. It may benefit others, but seems a little...
Years ago, I did a co-op term with Intralox. They are an awesome company and probably a leader in conveyor belts. Have you contacted them? Just a thought.

In our office, the sheets are locked (password protected).
They can be stoelen, but our letterheard are on them, etc...
Formulae are locked and hidden, so they wouldn't be as useful.

Makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.
Most of the guys I see involved in the LES (Louisiana Engineering Society, the LA chapter of NSPE) are young and presumably contributors to their day jobs.
There may be one or two of the type you describe (although I don't really know anything about...
