    Optimum Carbon Bed Depth

Thanks. Do you happen to have a good reference that presents the Ergun formula for this calc ?

    Optimum Carbon Bed Depth

Trying to find the optimum liquid phase activated carbon bed depth for acid wash carbon (12 x 40 mesh). Is there such a thing as a maximum bed depth in a vessel. If so, what is the limiting factor (i.e. backwash flow, compaction of carbon, pressure drop, etc) ?

Energy Recovery Devices for RO Membrane Systems

Thanks. What was your theoretical (since the project was shelved) pay back for this device. What was your operating pressure. Regards

Energy Recovery Devices for RO Membrane Systems

Does anyone have experience/data regarding Brine Energy Recovery devices (i.e. ERI turbo) used on Brackish Water feed (not Seawater). Is it cost effective for a brackish water feed water or 2 pass RO application?

Maximum Freeboard for Ion Exchange Backwash

Thanks Gary As you mentioned, most resin suppliers specify minimum freeboard (i.e. 50-75%) based on 30-50% bed expansion as you describe, but is there a limit to how much freeboard. One document rule of thumb states that you need 3 volumes (bed + freeboard) needed to achieve a 95% flush out of...

Maximum Freeboard for Ion Exchange Backwash

Does anyone know what the maximum recommended freeboard height to accomplish backwash of a single bed ion exchanger. I have observed industry standards for minimum freeboard at approx. 75% based on 50% bed expansion, but I have not seen guidelines for maximum freeboard and the impact.
