try fineprint factory pro....http://www.pdffactory.com/ it works good for acad and other documents such as word or excell, etc. It's free but has a link to their website at the bottom of the page. to buy, it's only $100, which is A LOT cheaper than adobe. it's easy to use and has a lot of...

Whats going on with Inventor Series???

I use MDT 6 and Inventor 5.3. THey both have there good points and bad points. I recently did several axle tube weld sudies for a customer in which I had to see if their weld guns would clear our tooling packages on some fixtures. I used MDT 6.0 because I didn't have to contrain the weld guns...

I deal with a lot of metric parts and inch assemblies. Is there a way to have a part sub-assembly xreffed (using the amcatalog) into an inch assembly without have to scale the metric part down to inches? Thank you, Havis

rendering a solid model to show wireframe

I have a part holding fixture that contains a part. I want to render the fixture in solid and show the part in phantom. I tried rendering the components seperately, but the part still renders as solid. I'm trying to figure out how to render the part such that it appears only as it appears in...

3d Man - do you have one?

if you can get a hold of metacreation's POSER (on the net), you can create your own people very easily and save them as DXF files. You can save them as solid models, for those interested in 3D models of people Havis Davenport

    opening file

Here's the problem I had....I could open only the file on my PC, but no one else could. The problem....The file was created in acad14/mdt3 version. When I tried to open it with acad14 version (no mdt3), it'd lock up the session. This delt with creating 2d views from a 3d model. this may not...

    Render Plots

I rendered to a file, thus controlling the resolution and color depth. If you pic the highest resolution and save to a file, you can import that file into excell. It turns out pretty good and since most PC's have excell, it makes it convenient. You'll have to import the border in excell also...

Plotting from Autocad 2000 to HP 1220C

I had the same problem, but with other wndows programs. I disabled the edge sensor feature and it solved the problem. If you are using the printer as "system printer" in acad, you might want to D/L the proper acad drivers from Hp.com. I had to get these drivers to eliminate...

Fatal Error when using HP deskjet 1220c as plotter

If you're still having this problem, try going to HP.com to download the acad drivers for the plotter. I had the same problem in acad14, when I used the 1220c as the "system plotter", using the windows driver to plot. After D/L'ing the hp drivers for acad, it worked great. I haven't...

    getting rid of "Z" values

I ran into a problem recently which I'd like some feedback on. I recently discovered that our customer sent us some drawings with "z" values in it for the entities and dimensions. An example would be a line that starts at one point and ends at another point, with different...

Purging a block which has no name in Acad14

Thanks for the help. The program worked great. There's also an "ARX" program that does the same. Now I just have to incorperate it into acad.lsp to automatically run when autocad is started. Thanks again.

AutoCAD Drawings That Triple In Size

I ran into a similar problem, where there was nothing in the file at all (using the dblist command to check), yet the file was 18M. I'm not too sure why it does it....but just to let you know...you're not the only one having that problem.

Purging a block which has no name in Acad14

I've been running into several drawings lately, containing a block with no name and the block "_filled". The filled block relates to arrowheads for dimensioning, but is somehow related to the block named " ". i can erase everything in the drawing to the point where the...
