Hi Guys
I am looking for information on silicon wafer and other semi-conductor processing equipment. Specifically, I am interested in contamination issues. I need to know the degree of purity and cleanliness needed at various stages of production. Also, what materials can be used in...

Any shape such as you have described can be drafted but I guess that you are after electronic data that describes the unfolded profile... ie a cad file.
All of the high end CAD systems will either do this or have an add-on to do this and some of the mid-low end packages do the same. I am...
Ernie,
If the curved along the beam (girder) is not to ensure uniform stress under load along it's length, then what is it for?
The use of such shapes is common practice in beam design for this reason. It allows you to use less material and therefore increases the load carrying capacity of...
If, by "camber" you mean the parabolic curve normally on the bottom half of the girder only, I have the answer. If you are talking about something else, I have no clue!!!!
Sorry, I know nothing about crane design, but the curved shape is calculated to give a beam of uniform stress...
Hi Bry
I looked into PVD a couple of years ago when I was in the UK.
I suggest that you contact a company called Balzers (not sure of the spelling) in Milton Keynes. They were very helpful to me and I bet that they would know what you are talking about.
Hope this helped
Rich
It is unlikely that the surface inclination angle is consistent throughout the depth of engagement.
I would shim as close as you dare and then re-measure.

You need to specify the material that you will be using. PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) is the process by which the coating is applied. A variety of materials can be used depending on the desired properties. PVD is used to hard coat metal cutting tools such as milling cutters so I...
Snowcrash is right BUT (and this is where the dialogue probably becomes meaningless with respect to the original query)the inequality of the load sharing would become minimal if the manufacturing tolerances of the shaft, housing, raceways etc were fine enough. This may sound like nonsense but...
Didn't the original question suggest that what we are looking for is shear strength of the material?
I am no expert in these matters but I would have thought that what you need to do is to apply a steady and increasing force to a known cross section of the material in a shearing manner whilst...
I worked for a company called Cranfield Precision in Beds, UK. They developed a small lathe for hard turning operations including off-axis and cam shaped components. To achieve this they designed a fast tool servo, synchronized to the workhead, utilizing a voice coil type actuator.
I believe...
