Embed an EXcel file into NX 2027 so the file drives a model and stays with the model file

Reading the link you sent, it doesn't look like I can do what I want. I would like to keep the spreadsheet in TCE with the model, so there is only 1 file (.prt) instead of having a .prt and a .xlsx file. It says in the directions you need embed the spreadsheet but it is outside of TCE.

Embed an EXcel file into NX 2027 so the file drives a model and stays with the model file

Hello, I am trying to automate a NX 2027 sketch by embedding an Excel file into the NX file. The Excel file is already written and has some extensive calculations. I would like to take that existing file and put it into a master NX file so the sketch will change based on some key expressions...

    Reference Sets vs Suppression NX8.5

Thank you very much. I will try these options and see if we can't help reduce some of our idle time. [thanks]

    Reference Sets vs Suppression NX8.5

I am not sure how to find out what licenses I have, but I can access WAVE and I do have ADVANCED ASSEMBLIES menus. We never really had training on these functions so other than linking bodies to change them we don't use any of these features. I would be willing to give them a try if it helps...

    Reference Sets vs Suppression NX8.5

I haven't used simplified models. If I can get my file to load I will try it. I am not sure what you mean by "inked exterior tool". We are using 3d models created by sketches and using holes/blends etc. for some details. Components are brought into assemblies and then assemblies into other...

Sorry, sometimes when you post you know your companies terms and think everyone else does too!!

    Reference Sets vs Suppression NX8.5

An external reference set shows just what is visible from the outside. If you have a lot of interior parts they won't be included. Think of a dishwasher, an external ref. set won't include the dishes, racks, motor, waterlines, just the outside door and maybe some buttons/dials. Just what you...

    Reference Sets vs Suppression NX8.5

I appreciate the replies I've gotten so far. Component groups may not be the best option though. Our issues stem from lower level assemblies not having external reference sets. Say for example I am putting an assembly of a refrigerator into an assembly of a kitchen. This kitchen has a...

    Material Color

Are you using the Material Editor? If so there is a box where you can choose the material color. The Editor has tabs and under the GENERAL tab the first item is Material color. I don't know if you need to use True shading to see it but it seems like you can change it there...

    Reference Sets vs Suppression NX8.5

I am using NX 8.5. I don't always see the show light weight in my assy nav. A lot of our assemblies were created using NXv6 I am not sure if we have an advanced assy license although someone else mentioned the component groups and I can get a Show Component Groups option in my Assy nav. but I...

    Reference Sets vs Suppression NX8.5

When you are working with large assemblies with lots of components which are assemblies themselves, which would create faster load/save times; to create an external reference set where only outside items were visible or to suppress (in the upper assembly) the internal components? It seems like...

Better way to handle a sequence drawing than exploded views?

Thank you, I will give the arrangements a go. For some reason (it may be because in the past is was too difficult to use) my company has rejected it and so the more senior designers have also rejected it, but I am not a fan of exploded views mainly because of the loss of associativity. It is...

Better way to handle a sequence drawing than exploded views?

When we need to show a tool sequence we are using the EXPLODED VIEW function in NX6 to show certain components moved up/down or in/out to mimick how a tool will look at certain stages. Does NX6 offer a better tool than exploded views to get the same result? When you use exploded views you...

    Errors when removing parameters NX6

I am on NX6.0.2.8. Unfortunately it is not up to me to update. Our IT people decide that. Is there a reason I could give them to get them to update us? If I can't update is this just something I have to put up with?

    Errors when removing parameters NX6

I am currently working on non-parametric models (parasolids), where after extruding a feature or splitting a solid I have to remove the parameters so it reads as just a dumb body. Sometimes after altering my solid I get an error in my file, and this is happening over several files that are not...
