    Help for building 300m post

I am not sure where you are based, but a quick search on google turned up these "guys" http://www.gordtelecom.com/Contact%20Information.htm (Canada with a 300m high guyed mast) http://www.sabretowersandpoles.com/ContactUs.aspx (US with a 1200' guyed mast)...

    Sampling test cubes

Concrete testing is to be carried out in accordance with BS 8500-1, Annex B. There is also Concrete Advice No.30 which is a publication from The Concrete Society which gives guidance on indentity testing for strength in accordance with BS EN 206-1 and BS 8500-1.

    Substitute for foamed glass

I am assuming by the metric units that you are in the UK. In which case I would suggest a product called Filcor, from Cordek or something similar. They do a range of products with a 1% compression at loads from 10kN/m2 and 190kN/m2 This is expanded polystyrene as Hokie66 suggests

Alternative Options for Shear Reinforcement at Walls of Tunnels

Could you not do a hybrid of options 2 & 3 and add a 45degree chamfer between the wall and base. In this chamfer you could then run your diagonal reinforcement through the chamfer. This would look similar to virtually any precast box culvert I have seen over here in the UK.

Temporary Stage Collapse at Indiana State Fair

I should note this is in the UK not the US

Temporary Stage Collapse at Indiana State Fair

In a previous company we did a lot of design work for stages, generally we designed in accordance with The IStructE "Temporary demountable structures. Guidance on procurement, design and use" In the document it stipulates a minimumn wind speed for which a temporary structure should be designed...

lack of legislation about durability of concrete

Not sure if you are able to access the British Standards but BS 8500-1:2006 has guidance for concrete specifiers. It takes a while to get used to but, it gives guidance on cover and strength requirements, cement and water contents (inc. type of cement). All based upon enviromental exposure and...

Red book, green book, blue book

These were IStructE & ICE manuals for design Grey was steelwork, Green concrete, red masonry. http://shop.istructe.org/topics/design-manuals.html The Blue book refers to the SCI Steelwork Design Guide. http://tsbluebook.steel-sci.org/Support/Entry.htm

    Concrete Pressure on Inclined Formwork

I have a question regarding the pouring of the concrete itself rather than the formwork itself. How is the contractor planning on pouring the concrete? Will he be pouring from the top so that the concrete will be hitting all the reinforcement on the way down? Or will he pouring from the bottom...

max stress due to point load on concrete?

An M30 bolt has a cross sectional area of 706mm2, the bolt head has an area of 1832mm2 (sizes taken from the Steel Detailers manual of 46mm across the flats and 53mm from corner to corner) giving a bearing pressure of 35.4 & 13.6N/mm2 respectively. An M24 gives a head area of 1122mm2 (36mm...

max stress due to point load on concrete?

To BS 5950 clause 4.13.1 (it is the steelwork code but stay with me on this), the concrete foundation bearing strength under a baseplate may be taken as 0.6 fcu (in the case of C25/30 concrete fcu is 30 N/mm2). This is for column bases and so in theory is relevant for your application...

    Omitting Base Plate Grout

I assume that the contractor will also allow for construction tolerances in the steel frame that will mean that the frame will not need to be shimmed to level it up.

Fence Post Embedded into Existing Concrete Barrier

Instead of bolting the fance to the top of the wall or forming foundations to one side of the fence. Why not bolt the fence vertical members to the side of the wall?

    A lesson on tolerances...

Why on earth would you cut a trench/groove to that tight a tolerance. Wouldn't you just cut a 3" trench/groove and be done with it. It's a cable at the end of the day.
