Not sure this is possible. First you'd need to save to a format that supports alpha channel (transparency), so jpeg is out of the question. I don't remember which other formats a render can be saved to.
To add on what ProDarwin said, SSDs use solid-state memory, i.e. flash memory. There are no moving parts.
What worries me is their limited write cycles. CAD files need a lot of rewrites, so I wonder if life expectancy of those drives used for CAD could be really short.

This is great, but the fact is, it should have already been included in ST with the ribbon's introduction.
Basically, SE users lost functionality between V20 and ST3, and had to wait 3 years (3 years!!!!) to get true UI customizing back. And what about those who've since stopped subscription...
Hey BC,
First thing you can change the camera settings in the preferences (going by memory here). By default the camera is set at 44mm, you can put it to 28mm (wide angle) to get an exagerated perspective for example. 200mm (or even bigger) will bring a small object closer, like it would with a...
Didn't have time to add: IGES was also recognized. Hypershot plugins were available for Solidworks, SpaceClaim, Kubotek KeyCreator, Pro|Engineer... But no Solid Edge.
BTW there was some big changes at Bunkspeed earlier this year: following a dispute with the raytracing engine owner (who was...
Don't know about HyperMove, but I tried Hypershot, and the only format out of SE that Hypershot recognized was STEP.
It's a terrific program. Setup takes 30 seconds, and even screenshots taken in real-time after leaving the screen generate for about 20 seconds on my 3GHz dual-core CPU were...
You right-click on that component in the assembly pathfinder, there's a setting for viewing options in the contextual menu, I don't remember the exact wording at the moment. You choose to show sketches.
I'm not under Windows atm, refresh my memory... what's the orient menu? Is that the one where you choose the different standard views? (front, side, iso, etc.)
If it is what you're looking for, it's now at the bottom right of the screen, under an icon.
I'd think you'd need to clean up the registry. Solid Edge installs always leave stuff there.
As for your question,
Siemens PLM, when they adopted the Ribbon bar, decided that customization would be done only through the QAT.
In effect, most of us have been asking the same question as you ever...
Not sure there is anything you can do, apart from going back to Catalyst 9.12... the Radeon series is a gaming/general purpose card, not a 3D workstation card like the FireGL series from ATI or the Quadro FX from Nvidia.
I you wish to distribute your models, 3D Content Central (from SolidWorks) will do nicely. Once a model is there, you can download it in many different formats. And it's free.

I have a SpacePilot, I've configured the left button for the ESC key, and right one for "Fit view". The left button is fine, but the right one kept losing its configuration. It was so frustrating I've given up resetting the button each time (and basically using it).
Yeah, XP Compatibility Mode is actually virtualization:
I'm pretty sure it means an app running through XP Mode won't access the actual graphics card but rather an emulated one.
In effect, you are actually running an app on an OS (XP) over another OS (Win7). Might work for desktop apps, but...
