    Solid Bodies BOM

You can create a configuration of the part as well, then insert two different configs into your assembly. Kinda defeats the purpose I guess. Just depends on why your doing what your doing!

    Material Property

SolidWorks 2010 SP4.0 XP64 For several years I have been using the SolidWorks material editor. I have my favorites set up so I can RMB in the feature tree and update materials on the fly. This has been working fine, until today when I made a slight modification to the settings. When you open...

    BOM Error... Ideas anyone?!

Sorting a BOM is relatively easy ... right click in the column you want to sort by, then left click sort. A dialog box pops up and by default it is ready to sort by that one column you were over when you right clicked. What I do is sort by "Vendor", and by default all fabricated items are...

    Sketch relations unavailable

I've seen the same as ShaggyPE. Sometimes if you delete a certain entity or relationship (usually the last thing created before the add relations interface stops popping up) then the add relations begins acting normal. I use the same work around that ShaggyPE mentioned. Seems like a bug to me.

hole table tags, I've added a hole, how can i get it tagged on drawing?

Boborush is using 2010 - the RMB feature to renumber is new to 2011. Pretty cool feature though ... glad to see SWX working on hole tables as they really need help. Now I really need help upgrading to the latest verison. Still on 2010 myself with some lapses back to 2009!

Any way to add # of instances callout to radius dimensions?

I have a series of simple macros to add 2x, 3X, & 4x to my dimensions. With a keyboard shortcut, I place the dimension then do an ALT+2 (for 2x). However, with a radius or even diameter, the macro deletes the R or Ø symbols, making it counter productive. So I just use the macros for location...

Measuring an angle in SolidWorks model

I have no idea what version this started. I often use the measure tool as there is more complete information. But for basic line length, line to line distance, point to point distance, face to face distance ... the status bar is a handy quick reference. To display or hide the status bar...

Measuring an angle in SolidWorks model

Your question is a little vague - but try this: The measure tool will give you the angle - but there is a quicker way. If you click on two planar surfaces, the status bar at the bottom of your screen should provide an angle. This also works with two linear lines or edges.

Toggle display of cosmetic threads in part and assembly files?

Simply click View... All Annotations. To speed things up, assign a keyboard shortcut as suggested by CorBlimeyLimey.

Inserting multiples of the same part in an assembly at once

Check out "Copy with mates" - it helps me out with repetitive parts that can't be patterned

    Batch Process and Custom Macro

Well, I can certainly take a look at your macro, but I do not want to create an new assembly or reassign colors. I want a routine that will allow me to select a directory, then run a designated macro on that directory. I want to batch all drawings to a PDF: I run the batch macro, designate the...

    Batch Process and Custom Macro

By the way - I know that SolidWorks task scheduler can help out, but there are limitations and I can't use it.

    Batch Process and Custom Macro

I am looking for a macro that will allow me to select a directory, then run a given macro on all the files in that directory. Found this post ... http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=209635 But I am not sure what the macro is actually doing. I ran it and didn't see where it did anything...

How to add QTY property to each part in the assembly

handleman - that did the trick. I've test it and it works as intended for this exercise. I'm surprised at how short the code is and how quickly you were able to put this together. Thanks.

How to add QTY property to each part in the assembly

rgrayclamps - I agree with your statement, and am trying to make this happen. I've been here three months and see much need for improvement, but as the new guy I have to understand that they are not going to accept everything I feel needs changed. Something has worked for them for years - even...
